Manifolds on the track 9.1 in 1/8. Headers open 8.5 open, 8.7 closed. On the street those differences are basically nil, that is unless you plan on racing from every red light.
I have tti’s long tubes on my 67 Valiant with a 4 speed. No issues installing them from underneath aside from a shim under the driver side motor mount.
Tti’s slide right in but there is a proper way to put them in. They go in from the bottom.
You need to remove the center link and or jack the engine up if needed to gain clearance.
I have tti’s. Slip right in from the bottom. As far as price, there are some things where price comes in second. Headers on A-bodies is one of those things.
Anyone with Dougs or TTI will tell you that.
When I called tti for shortys they were backordered. The man said “why shorties”? Hello! A-body. He said long tubes would slide right in from the bottom. He was right!
Plenty of ground clearance too I might add.
Its pretty common to put a shim under the motor mount to clear the torsion bar.
As far as dropping them in, my tti headers install from the bottom, not sure about Dougs.
Slid right in still requires some prep work as stated. So here goes.
Mini starter for sure. Oil filter housing position change.
Car up on stands high enough. I would say as high as most jack stands go. Not like 4 ft in the air!
Center link and z bar removed. And slide, thats right, slide...
When I called tti for shorty headers the main said “why shorties?” I said “V8 in A body hello”. The man stated long tubes will fit no problem. He was right.
When I called tti to order shortys the man said backordered and why shortys? I said A-body hello!
He said long tubes will fit right in. They did and ground clearance is excellent.
I did get the step headers, nickel plated and they will change color.
