Considering adding a lift - thoughts on 2-post vs. 4-post?

depends on the real usage. Storage mostly, 4 post or build a bigger shop. For real work everyday, 2 post. Have had mine for 16yrs, use it for anything and everything. And just learn how to make the lift work for you. Seeing these guys on these car shows crawling around on the floor with the...

    2 post lift

Seeing people install their own. Please have it checked every few years. And please stay away from cheap off brand ones. Remember, you're still putting several thousand pounds of metal up in the air. Accidents can and do happen, so be professional in your approach to using one. I've had one for...

HOA or County/City code? That's why I live in county only, and POA doesn't restrict bldg size.

    2 Post Lift

Ammco 9K from Napa about 14yrs ago. Cost about $3200 installed. I've had 1000's of vehicles on it ranging from mostly Cummins trucks, to VW TDIs, to my Dart, and now working on an OD trans build for a friends Duster. The lift spent the first 5 yrs outside, then moved indoor. I have it serviced...

    Steel shop question

when I did mine about 7 yrs ago, the insulation was under 1K to add it at time of building erection. 30x40 with 14ft walls, rolled 4 inch with that white plastic backing, walls and celing, with a 12x12 and 12x16 door, and 2 skylight panels.

    Car lift

all a matter of what you intend to use it for. I chose 2 post, because I wanted the most flexible lift for doing whatever kind of work I wanted to do. Haven't found a need yet that couldn't be met on the 2 post for anything I work on.

Should I buy a garage or work in garage under house

a separate building insulated has uses long past doing any work on the car. Best investment I've made. And it can't hurt your property value either.

    Car Lifts

9K Ammco Asymmetrical here. Very versatile. Can put just about anything on it. Have it serviced every couple of years, just for peace of mind that it wont come crashing down on me with a 9K truck 6 ft in the air above me.

    Car lift

9K Ammco from NAPA. had it outdoors for 5 years, then brought it indoors since then. Its 14yrs now that I've had it. Best investment one can make, as it has paid for itself many times over. Have it checked every few years, because you don't want it collapsing on you, thats for sure.

    New Shop. Which lights?

i have the T5's at 10' and the light is very white. I got the fixtures at HomeDepot. The fixture was $89 a piece and the bulbs are about $9 a piece, but are supposed to last a long time. Yeah, the drawback to halides or low pressure sodiums. Don't get any power outages here in the heat.

    New Shop. Which lights?

18x40 building and how high is the celing? I have 2 4ft 4 bulb T5 flourescents in the work table area, which is 15x15 area of a 30x40x14 building. I have 2 skylight panels, and then 2 400W metal halides with diffusers for when I am in the shop at night. I friend has a 50x50 and he put 10 of...

    Best garage floor paint?????

Acid stain with clear coat and silica sand mixed. Its driven on, spilled on, and always cleans with just a simple mopping. My building has a 22inch stem wall, because I flood irrigate, and I had it stained only, and it is much lighter. The color is coke(so when wet, it looks fairly dark). This...
