HDK Tubular Coil Over for Stock Steering

Have had the kit on for over a year now. Had the Dart at MATS 2017, and ran the strip and the autocross, and was very pleased with how it performed. Handling is very controlled at speed too. Have had a few runs in the 130 range. Need to switch back to street gears, and really push the speed up.

    Decent handling susp setup?

I chose Hotchkis bars, subframe connectors, and FoxShocks, with stock v8bars and ESPO HD springs out back. Couldn't fit larger bars with the 1-7/8 TTI headers. Handling was very good in my opinion. Was very confidence inspiring in turns, even at 90mph on long highway transition bends.

    Decent handling susp setup?

There is this tire. I am using it upfront, and its handling pretty well. Only had it up to 135 and it was very stable. Best method for lowering my rear

The upper hole should do the trick. Did the same on mine. Check your pinion angle after you lower the rear, it will go up, possibly 3degrees.

HDK Tubular Coil Over for Stock Steering

got everything painted so time for the motor to go back in. Denny, on the UCA, I shaved down the outer lip, to give more clearance for the wheels/weights, when using the K/H setup. 4" BS was still too close, so the notching helped.

    Wheel spin

sticky widest tire you can fit. Move the springs inboard 1/2, like with Dr Diff kit. Get the Espo springs, stock or 1 inch under. I have the Hotchkis bars and Fox shocks and with the 275/50-15 Nittos, it holds up pretty good on launch, and I'm much higher HP.

Raising front end / Wheel alignment

You have any Goodyear Auto stores? They offer a 3year alignment, have it checked as often as you want

HDK Tubular Coil Over for Stock Steering

Not sure if this is the first kit with the small upper balljoint, but here are some shots of the initial install before I break it back down for paint or powdercoat, haven't decided yet. I also added tabs on the lower arms for the Hotchkis swaybar I was running previously. And this is using the...

    Hotchkis or Bilstein shocks

Any car can be built to perform a task requested. It's all how much you want to spend. As for shocks, don't cheap out. Take a ride in an offroad truck/buggy with different shock levels, the difference is amazing. I went with the Hotchkis/Fox for the current stock t-bar setup, along with their...

    Hellwig or Hotchkis ?

I'll cast a vote for the Hotchkis huge hollow bar with welded on tabs, and mounting plates. Can't say enough about how the F/R bars and Fox shocks really changed the handling of this car.

    Hotchkis bolt on subframe connector

they'll work fine. I was being sarcastic in my post. My little motor is close to 600HP. Car stays tight all the time.

    Need new suspension

How much power does your setup make now? What is use of the car? Hotchkis sway bars and shocks will make a huge improvement to even your current setup, but I have to agree stiffer t-bars will help too.

Leaf spring 5 vs 6 leaf and stock or +1 height

You're going to want/need more tire to get traction with a 500+ HP motor. So if you do a spring relocation, like Dr Diff's, it gives you a second spring eye hole on the front hanger to lower the rear even more and then allow 275s in the rear with the right backspacing on your wheel.
  18. FredS

To lower or not to lower???

swies, what's your backspacing on the front 15x8s?

Replacing Federal pump with Saginaw pump?

I was able to get a federal pump from Napa just last year. Took 3 pumps to get one that didn't leak, though. Post a pic, I'm wondering if all SB pumps are the same for the different years

stance pictures with espo spring stock and +1

that's why I posted 2 pics as I was not 100% positive I wanted the stock stance and since he asked about stock or +1, I prefer the stock stance now.

    Poll: Power or Manual steering?

of course its personal preference. How will the car be used, and how its setup determines the choice, usually. Power is nice, but if its not used everyday, manual is probably acceptable and much simpler.
