I've been using this for years on my stroker. I'm not sure what you mean by complicated. I have mine set at 20 initial and chose at 15 degree advance program. I also chose the 10 degree vacuum advance. To me this is a breakthrough part that never got popular because its expensive.
I just watched your video. It looks like you have the no 1 wire marked with the blue tape on the cap. However, I do not see the inductive clip from your timing light on the same wire. Is it on no 1 and I just can't make it out?
Sounds like my motor.410, 11:1, ported eddies, dual plane, all painted orange with an orig 70 340 air cleaner assy. 230/243 hyd roller, on a 113, so it mild and works fine on pump gas with the ac on. Plenty of tq for my highway gears.
