    What do I have

Since I did one side then the other, I never noticed a difference in the front drums. Driver side appears to be aftermarket. Guess my dad was trying to chase brake issues with the car too. Although the drums appear different, I measured the diameter and depth and they were the same.

    What do I have

Thanks for the reply. I don't think any parts got switched as I did one side at a time. I'M starting on the front. Having the drums turned again to check for out of round and I had the tires balanced again. I found a source for all new brake hardware and should have them later this week. I did...

    What do I have

That's what I have. I wanted all new springs and hardware, but I can't find a listing for a 66 A body with 10" brakes.

    What do I have

Scraping sound, not releasing all the way I think. I would do the upgrade to disk, but I'm trying to keep it as stock as possible. I did install this from Dr. Differential when I went from power to manual.

    What do I have

Only thing I can think of is the drum got hot from the brakes hanging up, although it was hardly driven.

    What do I have

Yes, I tried to switch it, no can do. Other side looks like the same spring, and I did one side then the other so I wouldn't get parts mixed up. Everything flush.

    Maybe because factory AC?

    What do I have

Thank you for the pictures. On mine, I have the last return spring going over the post. Looks like it might be contacting the shaft coming out of the wheel cylinder. I will try to turn it over and see if it still makes contact. That would cause the front shoe to not return for sure.

    What do I have

The factory brochure only listed 9 inch drum brakes for a 66. That's what confused me.

    What do I have

I'm the third owner, my dad was the 2 ND. I don't think it ever had brake work. I did compare to the factory manual. They are 10" shoes.

    What do I have

The new shoes are 10"X2 1/4". Drums say Max dia. 10.060. I had the drums turned. The drums showed no deep grooves when I had them turned, so I don't think it took much. The car acts like the drum is out of round, pulls, makes noise. I have tried adjusting both ways and no change. Ongoing to...

    What do I have

I have tried everything I know to do to get the brakes working on my 66 barracuda. The car is all original, 36K mile car, 273 v8, not a commando, with power brakes. I sent the booster to booster Dewey twice for rebuild, but could never get the brakes to release after applying them. I eventually...

    Master cylinders

I had no less than four cast iron master cylinders and they all leaked. The adaptor from Dr. Differential will allow you to use a late model aluminum master cyl. That the Dr. Can provide or you can source locally. The adaptor is available by itself.

    Master cylinders

Looks like it would bolt up. Not sure if the piston bore size will be suitable for your application but I'm sure others will chime in. I just changed from power brakes to manual, and I got the conversion kit from Dr. Differential. You may want to check out his site for more info.

    Power to manual brakes

Got the master cylinder, adaptor and adjustable rod from Dr. Differential. Also ordered the brake lines and distribution block from inline tube. The brake lines were not long enough to reach the factory distribution block, so I extended them. The distribution block inline tube sent would not...

    Power to manual brakes

Keeping the drums. Do you know if the brake pedal itself is the same for power and manual brakes?
  24. GSXcite

    Power to manual brakes

I'M leaving the drums front and rear. So if I don't need a proportioning valve, I will need a new fitting to route the new dual master cyl. Brake lines to the existing lines to the front and rear brakes. What do you use for that? Thanks for the reply!

    Power to manual brakes

I have been unable to get the power brakes working correctly. I have sent the booster to booster Dewey twice for a rebuild, but the brakes drag, low pedal and the rebuilt cast iron master cyl. Leaks. It is my last resort to get decent brakes on the car. I would prefer to keep it all stock since...

    Power to manual brakes

I want to remove the power brakes on my 66 barracuda. It has drum brakes front and rear. I'm looking at Dr. Differential site at the * aluminum master cyl. Kit with adapter * adjustable master cyl. Push rod * proportioning valve Will this be what I need to make the conversation from power to...

    parts source

Well so much for that. Bled the master cylinder and wheels. Still very low pedal and pedal still will not return. I have replaced everything in the system except the steel lines. I have disconnected the emergency brake, so I know it is not the problem, I just do not know what else to do. I'm...

    master cyl pushrod adj

I set the push rod to the spec in the service manual .940 with my dial caliper. Installed the master cyl, ready to bleed. I noticed the piston only comes back half way to the large hole in the master cyl. Is this correct, or do I need to remove the master cyl. And adjust so the piston goes back...
