    Installing linkage clips

They won't clip on if the linkage isn't in alignment i.e. z bar. They should almost go on by hand. I use a needle nose pliers.

    Faceplated 833 4 Speed

What gear is in the car? At 3k and 500 fwhp I would not hesitate to run a 23 spline box. You will have to make sure the clutch isn't too aggressive however that is true with any manual transmission. Is the transmission all cast iron? It is also good to know if the gears are liberty supplied...

    Faceplated 833 4 Speed

I have a face plated 18 spline in my 68 GTS. Liberty supplied the gear set circa 2014 and it is still alive an well. It lived in my 66 Charger behind a few big blocks before it grew a G Force GF5R in 2016. The face plated 4 speed has been in my GTS for three seasons. Two with a nitrous...

The customer service has been excellent. I don't care to take phone calls either lol

All of the b&b style clutch kits I use come from RAM.

    Bullet proof A833?

I street drive my face plated a833 often during dry weather. We also attend an acceleration contest 5-10 times a year. Usually weekend deals where I run the car to test Friday and then run the rest of the weekend in competition with other like minded enthusiasts. Typically I will make 14-20...

    Mr Gasket Vertigate question.

With that stupid safety lever in place of a button I feel like I had to do a secret handshake to get the damn thing into reverse LOL

    Mr Gasket Vertigate question.

Have you ever driven a car with one of those shifters? Talk about overcomplicating something that turbo action figured out 25 years ago LOL.

    Mr Gasket Vertigate question.

Let's stick a fork in this one. 4 speeds are cool with either shifter. Especially when they aee shifted with the gas pedal flat to the floor : D.

    Mr Gasket Vertigate question.

You are grandfathered in lol. They do have a cool look about them.

    Mr Gasket Vertigate question.

You have the wrong guy for social media content. For the record I am good with the disagreement. Everyone has different tastes, mine being utilitarian. The trouble I speak of is extra installation fab. I see these shifters as being an overly complex solution is all. So...I will offer any...

    Mr Gasket Vertigate question.

They are more trouble than they are worth. You miss a shift because of timing the shifter/clutch actuation incorrectly. Not because of the 2-3 gate.

    Mr Gasket Vertigate question.

I would spend money on a face plate conversion before trying to be fonzi at the car show with my fancy shifter. If you cant row an H pattern get something with a torque converter. Just one guy's opinion (that actually races a 4 speed car).

    Those with blowproof bellhousings

Use electric or air tools and the 8 extra nuts&bolts are not a big deal. Definitely reinforce the torque shaft pivot bracket and get a clutch fork pivot from Brewers. QT bells have several design flaws specific to them that should be corrected prior to installation. I would also drill a...

Can I upgrade my 68 Dart to a later style spool mount?

Is the later spool-type transmission mount usable in my 68 Dart if I utilize the accompanying cross member? Thanks for any insight you might have!

    Clutch Linkage

Small block or big block? I run a pretty heavily sprung pp and do not have issues with firewall flex. The issue you run into in my experience is the engine getting shoved around on the mounts because there is nothing to fully stabilize it fore-aft.

The importance of measuring bell housing runout.

Nice work figuring it out. Trial and error is how I know all I know lol. The old DAMHIK principle.
  19. Jeremiah (jd)

The importance of measuring bell housing runout.

No lol. Its a circle. The only variance you will see is deflection in the measuring instrument. One thing that can throw you off is the bearing retainer hole not being perfectly round. That is one of the issues with older lakewood bells along with the horrific alignment problem. My quicktime...

    What transmission is this??

The liberty equalizer 5 speed and it's successor variants are typically clutchless and more often than not air shifted. You can buy a used 5 speed for 7k if the timing is right. 2500 for a bellhousing, clutch and flywheel isn't out of the norm if you shop around. For comparison an ATI...

    TKX bellhousing offset dowel confusion

Measure them carefully. Most of the mopar dowels are sold as .500" (ford) when they are actually need to be .496ish. This is why most people end up with RobMc dowels. https://www.robbmcperformance.com/products/dowels.html For fine tuning I make my own but anything that needs more than a five...

    Cutting A833 Input Shaft Question

Trim the input shaft and be done with it. I have done many with no issues. One of the problems you eill run into drilling the crank is that they are HARD. Especially a 4340 aftermarket unit.

Who wins the battle to build an A833?

If you call Liberty you want to do so aftrr lunch and ask for Paul. Brewers for the stock rebuild or Liberty if it is to be face plated. Better yet just do it yourself. There just isn't a lot inside these transmissions. 16 input shaft rollers, 72 cluster shaft rollers + 4 spacers, syncho...

    4-Speed Rebuilder Recommendation

Damn, that's a nice looking shop! FWIW, the only thing weak about an aluminum case is the countershaft bore. I was spraying 175hp of nitrous through my aluminum a833 last weekend without issue.

    Leaky 833 side gasket

I run Redline MTL for many years with no leaks. The gasket gets saturated with Hylomar which prevents wicking. All of that blue goodness in an attractive orange tube.

    Leaky 833 side gasket

When things are sealed with RTV flexible items (diff cover) come off much easier than rigid items (4 speed side cover). I like hylomar/permatex #85420 on the machined flanges of the side cover gasket and transmission housing gasket. No leaks and much easier to deal with IMO. I like a dab of...
