1967 Barracuda fastback fender tag deciphering

Without the plant info there could possibly be two different cars with the same VIN. There are sales codes, which seem to be unimportant on the assembly line.

1967 Barracuda fastback fender tag deciphering

Are there any "M" codes documented?

1967 Barracuda fastback fender tag deciphering

Yes, the hardtop did. My bumpers wound up my son's convertible (the other car) so I can't say whether it had them or not.

1967 Barracuda fastback fender tag deciphering

I just pulled out the fender tags for two 1967 Dart GT's. Both 273 two barrel, auto. One is a convertible, the other a hardtop. No M2 code on either one and both were built at Hamtramk.

    "Early A" doesn't cut it

You mean they built A-bodies before 1967 and after 1969??? Who'd a thunk it?

1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

October 1981 my future wife and I along with a friend of ours drove my old '66 Barracuda (Commando, four speed, 3.23 7-1/4) from Fresno to Pomona for the Street Machine Nationals and then the long way home up the coast. That was at least 650 miles over the weekend. The next Wednesday I left...

Is my car a Tag Job? Barracuda Decode...

If the '66 dash is original, it's a '66. Early 1966 Barracudas still had the "V". VIN will tell the tale.

1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

We had the manual box loosen up on my old '67 Dart hardtop (440). We also had the K-member bolts loosen up. It's pretty obvious what's going on. BUT, had a neighbor back in the 1980s (we shared a driveway). He had a '70s 1/2t Power Wagon. We were both getting ready to back out and I saw his...

    1966 Dart GT, 273/4, 4 speed registry.

As the tool man hinted at, there was no such thing as a "Commando" Dart. Commando was a Plymouth name. The same engine in a Dart was the Dart Charger 273. The car I posted above was a non-console four speed 235hp car. D/Darts (275hp) did not come with a console, but were all four speeds...

I did the same in my old '66 Barracuda back in 1982.

Please don't. I don't think there's any way it will ever look right.

    Location?

No, there are not two locations on a convertible...not until 1969.

    Cabin Sound Deadening

Noise? Bah. I've driven my son's 440/4sp Dart convertible 600 miles in a weekend. It's a visceral experience, all of it. These cars are meant to be heard and then some.

    early A body engine swap

'67-72 V8 mounts are the same, but '64-66 V8 mounts are thicker. Block mount brackets are also different between early and late.

    early A body engine swap

Early A k-members are the same whether slant or 273 (the only V8 available in them). You just need V8 engine mounts.

    Where are the Dart GoGo’s?

Was it on the fender tag? The only '65 four barrel Dart I know of with stripes is one that was owned by an elderly couple (it was her car) who have both passed. Their son now has it in Oregon. No idea if it was an original Go Go. They picked the car up in the mid-1980s. This pic was from 2015.

    D/Dart

VIN starts "LO". That means D/Dart in 1966. ALL 273s carried a "D" engine code in the VIN in 1966.
  20. J

    D/Dart

Not in 1966. Not for what it is, especially in this market. If I was in the market I'd be all over it.
  21. J

    D/Dart

Not my car. The pics in the ad are all I have seen. VIN is certainly D/Dart.
  22. J

    D/Dart

Given the '65 hi po GT in SoCal for $15,750, if I was in the market for an early A, I'd be heading to Nevada... 1 of 50 D/Dart for $12k. Needs a resto, but this is on my short list of cars I'd be all over if real money dropped in my lap. I wouldn't sell anything I have to own one, etiher...

    1st/2nd Gen Barracuda Handling

Handling is far superior in the A-body WITH the handling package than just about anything from the competition. Ride quality with the handling package was also excellent.

    A body styles

A-bodies changed for 1967. Early A-bodies were 1966-older. Barracuda was an A-body through 1969. As the Barracuda changed platforms to the E-body there was a hole in the Plymouth A-body lineup along with a place to put the 340, so along came the Duster. For 1970 there was no Valiant two-door...

    Kelsey-Hayes replacement

I'm not running this kit and have no information about what fits or doesn't. It's just the closest to the factory K-H system. I have a complete set with NOS rotors to put on my GTS convertible when I get back to it. I have '73 discs on the front of my '67 Barracuda convertible. Rotors have been...
