    Official 3rd Gen Hemi thread

The short answer is you wouldn't want to use the MSD. Not only does it use a different wheel but the 392 has other features that you don't want to throw away by using a carburetor. Instead you'd use the factory PCM with an aftermarket wiring harness.

    Current prices for hemis

I think the various prices reflect a number of things. Car vs Truck, truck cheaper. 03-09 vs 10-16 later eagle motors are worth more. 6.1 vs 5.7 6.1 worth a bit more. 6.4 worth the most. Does it have accessories? All of these factors affect the price.

    Need some advice

Cuda, I've dropped the price to $3500.00 I think I might have it priced right, I might drop it down to 3K just to move it. As for why the sale, I realized that it was going to take a decade to finish the car. I just didn't have the money to move the project forward. Plus most of my hot...

    Need some advice

The motor is complete with all accessories. No trans. I have a cable operated 85mm throttle body and adapter plate. Unfortunately I don't have the DBW throttle body. But I do have the factory computer. I would be also be willing to pull the pan and valve covers for anyone interested. And yes...

    Need some advice

I've decided to sell my 6.1L Hemi. I have it listed in the for sale mechanical parts section and I started out with it listed at $4800 and have lowered the price to $4200 but so far there haven't been any offers. I originally bought the motor used, the person I bought it from assured me that...

How to Megasquirt your 3G Hemi

VVT is a 09 and later for the 5.7L hemi and NEVER appeared on the 6.1L Hemi. So I don't think the VVT setting is your problem. I would look at your enrichment setting in MS Tuner Studio. Regards, Joe Dokes

    Supercharged 6.4L in a 64 Valiant

Also, the engine compartment on the early A bodies is TIGHT, I don't know if it is possible to squeeze a GEN III hemi into one with the stock K-Member (feel free to prove me wrong). I think most of the guys doing this swap into Early A's tend to go with an aftermarket K, like RMS's Alterkation...

    Supercharged 6.4L in a 64 Valiant

You can use one from a Corvette, it's a combination fuel regulator, and fuel filter. LS Fuel Filter Regulator Hope this helps. Joe Dokes

    New hemi install total cost

CichliDart, Did you get a chance to install the 90 Degree Adapter yet? I was wondering if you needed to notch the K- Member. Thanks, Joe Dokes

1967 Dodge Dart GT SC 6.4L Swap

Although the Alternator is controlled by the ECM you can use an external voltage regulator. Here is a diagram on how to wire it up. So you have two thin wires, IT DOESN'T MATTER which one you GROUND and which one you attach to the regulator.

    AEM troubles

Hmmmm, I seem to remember it being a bad Crank Position Sensor. In Cruizin's case I think his problem is a bad ECM as he is unable to get his laptop to recognize the ECM. One of the things that I would ALWAYS look at when diagnosing a problem with EFI is the grounds. I'd make absolutely sure...

    Considering 2014 Hemi (5.7) 1971 Demon

A thicker head gasket is sometimes used to lower the compression ratio to a more acceptable level. The Eagle heads have bigger intake ports so the early intake manifolds won't fit without modification. I wasn't aware that any aftermarket timing sets were available for the Eagle motors. Glad...

    Considering 2014 Hemi (5.7) 1971 Demon

The ONLY advantage to running an early block with late model heads would be that you can get a better timing chain. Currently there are no double rollers for the VVT setup. Also, the early pistons with the smaller chamber heads and the early pistons with a slight dome would result in a very...

    MDS, VVT, and transmission options?

There are a lot of guys getting 20 MPG or better, ON THE HIGHWAY. If you run fuel injection, keep the car fairly light (It's why we build A-Bodies, right?), and have a decent highway gear, low 20s is fairly easy. I BELIEVE that Tincup, with a 5.7L and a late model transmission has reported mid...

    MDS, VVT, and transmission options?

B5cuda, Sensors depend upon the transmission you use. You can use either the truck or the car transmission. Here's an article over at Hotwireauto.com that lays what needs to be done to run the Nag trans. http://www.hotwireauto.com/?page=sales-nag1 Regards, Joe Dokes
  24. J

    MDS, VVT, and transmission options?

Short answer Yes and No. MDS is not enables on six speed Mopar Challengers from the factory, so NO MDS cannot be used with any classic transmission. If you want to run MDS you'll need to do the floor surgery and install a late model transmission along with the appropriate speed sensors. As for...

    Considering 2014 Hemi (5.7) 1971 Demon

The 09 and later motors have a number of advantages. I would not shy away. Just be aware that you're probably going to run a factory computer, and according to the buzz you can now tune them to your hearts desire. If I didn't already have a 6.1 L Hemi, I'd probably get an 09 and later 5.7. The...

    Considering 2014 Hemi (5.7) 1971 Demon

Chaditotx, It is my BELIEF, that the MSD controller will only work on the 03-08 5.7 motors, and will not work on your VVT motor. As of right now there also APPEARS to be no aftermarket control of VVT from a standalone controller. As a result I'd strongly recommend a stock computer and a...

    SRT8CUDA Build

Good job spraying the inside of the grill. Too many people leave it the body color which simply doesn't look right. As for "over restored" I think that's a term people use who have way too much time on their hands to criticize others. I know factory cars came with misaligned panels and orange...
