What torque convertor do I use?

correct. "LA360" is external balance. just know that chrysler had more than one "external balance sb's" so "LA360" is important. if you converter has a weight welded to it...it's not balanced for a 360, since it was behind a 340 originally. If it has no weight, it may be internal...

What torque convertor do I use?

BluePrint Engines 408's are all "LA360" balanced on the REAR. do not confuse that with the fact that we use the Magnum balance damper on the front. As @Professor Fate mentioned, 340's are unique in balance. it'll depend on if your previous 340 was stock balance, or had been rebuilt to...

    727 SB Question

Many many cars started as column shift automatics, and now have cable shifted B&m or tci or cheetah floor shifters. I wouldn't think it would deter too many buyers at all... if a buyer wants it to use otherwise, that's up to them, and hopefully they ask those questions. Kudos on being...

    318/8 Speed Swap

I would assume it has quite a bit of slip, but I would be very curious to know! I was surprised to find out the cars really don't have any, but they have that whole IRS cradle which as you are alluding to, doesn't move much if any.

    318/8 Speed Swap

Great progress! Can I ask how much "slip" is in this boot? Can you collapse this by a few inches? Or is it rigid and just for harmonics?

    B&M shifter not catching gear?

I always adjust the cable on these shifters with the car in first gear, and get it perfect there, and then confirm the other gears and N and P are ok. I have found that the PARK in mopar transmissions has alot of slop on the rooster tail compared to the gears. if you adjust your cable so...

    Pre-magnum flexplate on a 46RH?

Alright fellas! Happy to help. Our 408 is balanced on the rear as an LA 360. So we recommend an LA 360 balanced flexplate. You are correct that the factory flexplates were neutral, but the commonplace aftermarket is a NEUTRAL converter, and then you use the proper balance flexplate...

    What b&m shifter

Pn 81120 is my current. Love it 81683 is cheaper, and I liked it too. In fact I think I have a buddy with one on the shelf. I can check if you want.

    What b&m shifter

Most B&M shifters come with brackets for mopar, gm, and ford. Here is summits site sorted by shifters, with 904 and 727 tagged. Some are just different colors, handles, or do/don't come with a separate reverse lockout lever. Automatic Shifters at Summit Racing I prefer the quick Silver on...

Quicksilver Shifter stopped working? Or Transmission. Or valve body

Before ultimately admitting defeat myself and pulling the trans and taking it to an old school trans guy (because I too am not a trans builder) The detent lever should take a little oomf....but it should cleanly click into each detent position. Park does have some dead zone, but from there...

Quicksilver Shifter stopped working? Or Transmission. Or valve body

Looks like the summit brand ones are gone, but also looks like Hurst made them being both are gray. Hurst is a few buck cheaper. Here is a link, but confirm it's actually what u have going on....and measure what you need if so. Automatic Transmission Shifter Cables | Summit Racing

Quicksilver Shifter stopped working? Or Transmission. Or valve body

Also forgot to mention, the b&m supplied cable is too long. So if you buy a replacement, get one shorter than the stock one they give you.

Quicksilver Shifter stopped working? Or Transmission. Or valve body

Yup, the quicksilver is one of my favorite street shifters. I made a habit of sliding a few foot section of rubber fuel hose over the shift cables bc they always rub or melt on something. Start there. Verify the trans shift lever is actually moving, and actually clicking into the various...

HELP *Turbo Action Shifter Cable Adjustment*

Winner, and no more "Guessing" required, because thats the problem. OP's observed issue is the NSS isn't function properly. REAL issue is too much slop on the rooster comb. should have damn near zero play in every detent position. i have found park has some "dead / overextension" area...

HELP *Turbo Action Shifter Cable Adjustment*

How "sloppy" Is park? Can u "wiggle" the lever back, and get it to start? Back to my point about the cable holding the lever in a position that works. A new NSS is like ten bucks at a local parts store if you really think that's it

HELP *Turbo Action Shifter Cable Adjustment*

I would say adjusting it using first gear, will get you where you need to be. Setting it in park or neutral can lead to it being between gears they have alot more slop. I had that shifter in the past and had to fight with it too.

HELP *Turbo Action Shifter Cable Adjustment*

Set the detent position in first. And try again. Are you using the factory neutral safety switch, or the little one it came with on the actual shifter body? Those little window switches he's are a pita. The factory NSS is actually pretty good...and easy to tie in to.

    75 Plymouth valiant 7 1/4 rearend

People give those rear ends away whole for free. I would start there, or even upgrade to a 8.25, or ford 8.8 before I spent $250 on new ring gears for one of those. Just a friendly opinion/observation.

Aftermarket SB 727 Dust cover? anyone make them?

Hello all, Is anyone aware of a cost effective 727, SB, converter dust cover? proving a little more difficult to find for our engine/trans packages. I know many leave them off, but i'd like to at least offer the option. Or anyone make one from a Flat piece of metal that they'd care to share...

    Hughes Torque convertor

I tell people not to order a torque converter without making a phone call to the company. If someone doesn't ask you cam specs, weight, gear ratio, etc. You are "guessing" at best. A mismatched converter can absolutely KILL performance on an otherwise good car. That's my 2 cents

BB and modern 8 speed Auto transmission ?

What people neglect to realize is all these modern LX cars have 2.6X to 3.0X rear gears. So low gearing in the 8 speed allows that numerically low rear diff to not hurt performance. You would be nuts to pair with anything numerically higher than say a 3.23. A V6 2018 challenger with an...
