Super Sniper "carb" Spacers, Your choice would be???

Every engine is different, but you may want to try and borrow one of those spacers before shelling out for one. I'm sure those are effective on some engines, but mine didn't care if it was on there or not....on an engine dyno.

    440 build need ideas

Thanks for tagging me in fellas. unfortunately big block cores dried up. Unless that vendor has an old stock one, we've moved on to the gen III hemi, and some new High Po 408's in the works.

Sniper on a big block stroker

They are an awesome system. just remember the proper ignition components when you pull the trigger. happy to help if you're interested in giving us a try. also remember they have an approx 900 cfm rating, so if you need more carb than that, you'll want to look at their other offerings...

Glad to hear after some minor issues that the engine turned out being a solid runner for you. We were still learning and expanding in the 2000's, and we continue to learn and expand every day. We do have some exciting things going on in the mopar lineup coming up, and i'll be sure to keep the...

Opinions on Blueprint Crate R/B 493/440

The best/most encouraging thing for me to gather from your post is that you, and others have noted a great improvement in blueprint engines over the last period of years. I will be the first to admit that BP had some growing pains in the past, but I myself have been in the industry for years...

We do tons of mopar and ford engines also. The gm cores are plentiful, so no doubt we have a bunch on hand. I saw three skids of RB cores come in the other day....trust me...they are there.lol. we also have several parts storage areas for the new parts we use. This just means you guys need to...

BluePrint engines are all very streetable combinations. The 493 is very popular for us. I'm honestly surprised we haven't run the country into a RB core shortage with as many as we move. Great cruiser engine with plenty of grunt. Would love to answer any questions you have. Feel free to PM me...

    B vs RB

To quote allpar in the article I posted... "The 383 cubic inch RB engine was only available in 1959-1960 on the US built Chrysler Windsor and Saratoga" So it's rare you will ever even see a 383 rb and for sure dead by 1960 Little known fact a "chrysler 350" exists also in the B deck lol

    B vs RB

I guess tool man did state he isn't mentioning early 60's...so in a way we are both right, but I knew the 383 RB existed from years of writing vehicle application data.

How big of an issue is this gonna be

The only thing "WE" run 25-30 on is circle track engines that run 50 wt oil. BUT...an observation...you need to be checking clearance on BOTH sides of the journals. As in.. If you think you have .030..you need to be able to get .015 on both sides, with TWO feeler gauges. hopefully when you...

How big of an issue is this gonna be

I'm thinking .035 is more for aluminum rods. I'd be a little hesitant of .035 of standard rods. are these stock? worth a phone call if they aren't OE.

How big of an issue is this gonna be

I was going to say .018 is the number in my head. I'm sure some of the real engine builders will chime in as to what their max allowable is. Seems pretty loose to me...

Pushrod question... Will it cause damage???

Completely correct. The original question sure left alot to interpretation. Especially when implied that the wrong ones were possibly installed.... "Can I reuse stock pushrods if only decked .004?" Is a completely different question than "My dad found some mystery pushrods on the shelf in...

Pushrod question... Will it cause damage???

There is still some fudge factor considering not all aftermarket "stock" replacement components are identical to oe spec. But if you just put the factory pushrods back in..then u r prob close....but close is for horseshoes and hand grenades...not engines. 1. with rockers loose, Rotate engine...

Pushrod question... Will it cause damage???

You need to measure to do it right. Especially with non-adjustable rockers. Over time blocks get decked, heads get milled, etc. if he THINKS he put the wrong pushrods in it, then clearly they weren't what came out of it, and/or he has doubts. He also needs to add the correct preload, which is...

    Piston / Valve Clearance

Nope. Either clay checking....or using a dial indicator and a checking spring. But again....unless this is some ported aluminum headed monster...you probably will benefit zero, or even go backwards with a "bigger" cam. Do u want power brakes? Street manners? Any drivability whatsoever? What's...

    Piston / Valve Clearance

everyone assumes lift is the direct factor of piston to valve, when duration is actually a larger factor. When a valve is at max lift, the piston is way down in the cyl. now how long that valve hangs open....thats where things get close. .080/.110 is the ballpark we use. onto if adding...

Will Original temp gauge work with big block?

Yes, just move the sender from one engine to the other and off you go. however the stock gauges aren't super accurate...so may want to consider an aftermarket gauge (even if you mount it way down on the dash by the trans hump) so you keep a clean interior.
