    Clutch fan installation question

If you are young or flexible, threading the nuts or bolts into place isn’t difficult. I’m not arthritic like some but I just can’t bend my wrists enough to easily thread a bolt in the tight confines of the stubby fan clutch. I get it done but it isn’t easy. The longer snout of the standard fan...

    Clutch fan installation question

Here is one. These are all over the 67-76 A body cars. Hood, trunk lid, doors and fenders. I like to use this type for the intake and bell housing too.

    Clutch fan installation question

There are numerous bolts used in cars that have a built in washer that does not come off. There may be another name for them, I called them captive washers because they don't leave the bolt. Every bolt retaining a fender has a built in washer. Every bolt to mount a valance does too. If I had a...

    Clutch fan installation question

I've done this 3 times in a 2 day span. I have 1" 5/16" bolts with captive washers to use. They are OEM Chrysler/Mopar from one of the many cars that I have parted out over the years. No lock washers, no Locktite, just adequate torque to tighten and they stay that way. I use a long 1/2"...

Classic Auto Air #2 4/5/2024 SUCCESS!!!

I had two threads at FBBO about aftermarket A/C installations in B body cars. I put a CAA kit in my Charger and a Vintage Air system in a 68 Plymouth. The CAA heater did blow hotter. Holy crap that heater is as warm as any new car I've been in. The A/C cold felt about the same between the two...

    OVERHEATING

"Ok, one more time. I use the term YOU in the general sense, not as in YOU personally. You have a fixed cooling medium temperature to work with. That’s ambient temperature. So for ***** and giggles we’ll say that’s from about 20-110 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s ALL you get. Again, for ***** and...

    OVERHEATING

I dealt with a similar situation yesterday. 1970 Charger 383 4 barrel. 2 row Griffin radiator. Clutch fan. No shroud. 3.91 gears. I've driven the car with 150 miles on the rebuild all around the local area and have not had a problem with getting too hot. Burnouts, full throttle runs, idling in...

    Factory heater delete

The heater delete A bodies that I have seen were from Mexico and other southern countries. They had no heater core. The firewalls had block off plugs where the heater core nipples would have been. No core, no heat of any kind...obviously no defroster either.

How do modern cars regulate temperature so well?

I agree with everything except that you misspelled LOSE.

    AC guinea pig...

I don't recall the model number but it was in their "Perfect Fit" line of kits. Their instructions are generic and not good but their customer service is.

    AC guinea pig...

I'm going to have to read that a couple more times to understand it.

    AC guinea pig...

I changed over from the inoperable HVAC system in my Charger to a Classic Auto Air system last fall. I still need to evac and charge the system. I'm sure the Wife will be more receptive to going on trips once the A/C is working! Thanks for posting this topic!

Was A/C ever an option on 340 six Pack cars?

Sorry, man... You are known to be a nice and polite guy but you are wrong on this. There are a LOT of stupid questions that get asked every day. If the person asking the question is humble and admits their limited knowledge, I think that most people give them a pass and are helpful. If the...

New SHORT muscle car fan clutch!!

What I mean is that the 2747 Hayden is easy....The shorter one is about an inch shorter. Bolts are tough to fit in and thread, nuts over studs require smaller hands with greater dexterity than I have.

    Mechanical setup

That killer/suspect guy in "Silence of the Lambs" did the same thing....tucked it under. He also danced around naked to the song "Goodbye Horses." I would find another way to go, but that is just my opinion.

    Mechanical setup

Factory cars did not overheat when they were new. The A/C package is tough to beat. It is not exact to your application but...For a 440 B body with NO A/C, the lower pulley was approx. 7 1/4", the WP pulley (Single groove) was around 6". For the A/C setup, the crank pulley is smaller....about 6...

There is no reason to hate the car. Persistance will pay off. Lots of good people here to help.
