It's the year (2) and the C is for Jefferson assembly plant. The rest is the sequence number of the vin for the car it was assigned to.

Best dual plane intake for 400 low deck

Hooker 5113 or tti. I have the tti and I like them. Tri Y's might get a little bit of low end torque, but not a lot worth noticing. Engine Masters ran a comparison test, not sure if I have it still.

Best dual plane intake for 400 low deck

Nope. I took mine off a 400 and gave it to my buddy for his 383. It scoots just fine, he hasn't complained, and he gets to use his N95 hood with it.

    Which 440 to buy?

My roommates did it in a day, easy to separate that which you don't care about. Yes, a dumpster makes it easier to get rid of the mess in one shot. I think they may have had a Bobcat, but they didn't use much. It's a crappy house on wheels, and the insulation is the biggest pain. Other than...

    Which 440 to buy?

There's not much to a motorhome, some insulation, a little wood (burn pile), the sink and crapper, and the rest most yards will take. Those fresh are heavy in the big ones.

Best Kept Secret in the Big Block Mopar World

Twenty years ago, I wanted all my cars to be ready for the track, I haven't gotten one there yet. They go plenty fast for what I do. That said, the Dart will at least be ready if I ever take it to the track. Big block with aluminum everywhere and fiberglass front end, bumpers and trunk lid. Some...

    Which 440 to buy?

Yep, the C class with a 440 is the easy donor option. I've got a couple 440's from the bigger motorhomes, and the trannies have good parts inside, just the wrong tail shafts. Got them long before these engines became stupid expensive, $600 with trans was the most I paid, I'd never give that...

Best Kept Secret in the Big Block Mopar World

That's the point I'm trying to make, at least with the 361. Cost effective power, it's always been my goal, and all the parts I've collected will help me achieve that.

Best Kept Secret in the Big Block Mopar World

"this Mopar oddity proves that innovative thinking and a mastery of machining talent can pull unexpected power from an unlikely source." So if you aren't a machinist, plan on spending some good money for the mods done to a 361.

Best Kept Secret in the Big Block Mopar World

The simple fact is nobody is going to build a stroker 361 other than for ***** and giggles. There isn't a monetary, or performance advantage to doing so. Limited parts availability and limited demand. The stock Forward Look guys don't want a street screamer, they want the stock 9:1 compression...

Best Kept Secret in the Big Block Mopar World

But at what cost? I could build that 350 I have, but it would be much cheaper to build a stroker 383, and beat that 600hp figure with money to spare.

Best Kept Secret in the Big Block Mopar World

There's a thread on FCBO covering all the big blocks and the stroke/bore combos. 440, 400 and 383 won out by simple logic, price and availability. There's a reason for all three of those situations.

Best Kept Secret in the Big Block Mopar World

Gotta go north of the border, but I have a April '59 casting date on a 350 that's in my '66 Monaco. They used them at least through 1960. I haven't bothered researching any more info on them. First and only one I've laid eyes on. L Large bore S Short stroke

Best Kept Secret in the Big Block Mopar World

No demand, plain and simple. How many 361 blocks are there being sold? That's why pistons are so expensive.

    440 Source Head Opinions?

They weren't ported, magnafluxed, they did have some minor valve work done, and four new valves. That's why the price was $350. I can get the specifics so you can scrutinize further, I'd do a set of iron heads if they were that cheap. Think I'll call my local machine shop and see what they say...

Maybe you should stick to the Mazda forums? Plenty of cars that have the Stealth heads are driven regularly and raced without issue. Good luck in your quest to prove yourself right, but it won't happen. Too many Cheap Bastards have had success with these heads, and many more will in the future...

You do realize they flow more than stock heads, don't you? The chamber is based off the stock configuration, not is the stock configuration. Like I said, I can't wait to shave 4 or 5 seconds off my time slips!

    440 Source Head Opinions?

No, but I know plenty of people who have. No one ever said they picked up that much time from 50 lbs. All the old timers I know say 100lbs = .1 seconds. So 400lbs to trim four tenths. I'll set my Dart up with stock sheet metal and run it down the strip. Then I'll swap to fiberglass front end...

    440 Source Head Opinions?

I got a set of Stealth heads a couple 13-14 years ago and put them on with no issues. Car felt quicker and all went well til the engine broke a rod. Bent two valves and they've been sitting ever since. I'll bring them to a shop hopefully soon. I'd like to get a set of Trick Flow heads, but I...
