rack n pinion front steer ackerman issues...explain...

Denny just adding my 2cents. I am not a pro builder and i know every application is diffrent and changing things on a car is fun to do. I changed most of mine with no regrets other than not going the whole way with new k and front steer. I dont expect my comment to put a dent in front end...

rack n pinion front steer ackerman issues...explain...

to clarify I have the upper and lower arm coil conversion from bob. The last time I talked to him to upgrade to the new spindle arms, rack, k member, and changing the ends on my trailing arm with shipping would be about 2300. Now my opinion on front ends after changing and weighing almost...

Will it include a new k member or just the rack?

rack n pinion front steer ackerman issues...explain...

Cool. I look forward to seeing it. I am stuck with doing a rear steer rack because I cannot justify the 2500 extra to go front steer for no weight loss. The pictures are at full drop. The unit is made by Bob's Pro Fab. I should have posted that with the pics. I have half of his kit currently.

Please dont take this comment as being rude but I doubt you will be bringing anything new to the table. The front end has been around for over half a century and there is not much innovation left to be discovered.

Pics of the spindles and how the rack is attached it is what will make this idea a reality.

Best Coilover IFS for '71 duster?

You can header a car very easily in the fender. The t-bar only gets in the way when you try to go down the middle. There is plenty of room if you move the firewall back in those areas. My biggest gripe is to get a smooth flow off of #1 and #2 with a big block you have to move back to clear the...

Best Coilover IFS for '71 duster?

I dont know the price of Dennys kit bit the alterktion and others are way over priced. AME ifs kit 3500 no bakes bit new frame rails. The biggest issue I have found with the stock front end is you cant move the engine back, or lower... big block.

Best Coilover IFS for '71 duster?

What budget? For me I would replace the front frame rails... well honestly the whole frame and put a good front clip in like a Vette unit. I am sure replacement mopar specific units are good but if I was going to build a g-machine I would go a diffrent route.

tubular lower control arms for coilovers

Junior - Denny What do you think would happen if you used a rack in the front with a intermediate steering bar mounted perpendicular to the LCA right underneath them that could then pick up a short steering arm in the rear in the stock location?

tubular lower control arms for coilovers

I was towing with this idea to try and move the rack forward in the car a bit by making a piece to bring the steering arm mounts forward but not change the turning radius or cause a bind. My engine is about 7" back from stock so the rack is under the front 1/3rd of my pan. I can make a pan to...

this is the area I was concerned with for street use. I think I am going to fab a plate to go in.

tubular lower control arms for coilovers

I took the cheap lazy way out and I am in the process of installing an omi rack in the stock steering bar location. Biggest pain in the *** is trying to support it that far off the k member and not have it look like total horse crap.

tubular lower control arms for coilovers

If you want a great money maker fab a sent of front steer ball jounts arms to run a rack forward of the k member. and yes the kit is ok. No issue on the track. But I wish I had gotten the whole k kit. One thing overlooked is the coil overs are heavy. 5he weight reduction is not worth the cost...

I wasnt trying to pee in your cereal. I like what tour doing. One sugestion/ idea. I will be adding a rear plate to support the back of the bolt to the frame now that my car is going onto the street. What are your thought on providing more strength.

My comment was to Matto. He was wondering when someone was going to make these. Just pointing out Bob has been making them for a long time now. Same concept.

    K-member delima

I dumped my stock steering in order to move my BB back in the car and went with a rear steer rack to make it drivable and cheap. Issues with that arrangement: Oil pan issues and unit support. My application is different but I think if you notched the k member a tad and ran an oil pan with the...

    Lightweight K-Frame and Steering

Do the whole front clip. Call Art Morison or others and order the whole thing. if you are going to change the front end get rid of the stock frame rails. Heck if I was going to do it again I would have ordered a full frame specially if you plan to narrow the rear end or junk the floor.

    Unisteer rack and pinion

i am installing a Unisteer rack in my car right now. I bought a off the shelf 45" Omni unit to play with. The knuckles on the rack flex at the same point as the old steering arms did but I have not checked the actual steering radius. I mounted it in the same area as the old steering system. I...

    aftermarket k-members

the weight savings is not big unless you change k member. the weight of the coil overs is the same as the T-bars and that is strung weight. if you are going to change the front end I would buy a full clip and go that rout.

    another coil over question

I have Bobs kit on my car minus the K and front rack steer. It is nice and has done well for me. I reinforced the shock towers and will be adding a couple more units of bracing when I put it on the street. My shocks are the double Afcos with the bayonet mount at the top. The coil overs are...
