lets see just how good this brain trust really is.

OK guys. I really need your help. lets see if we can get this done. In the '60s, Keystone made a ONE PIECE alloy wheel with the plain chrome "K" center cap. At first glance it looks similar to a Klassic, but it isn't close. (best half-assed description would be a cross between a Klassic, and...

    found a superbird!!

10,000 in the early eighties??? That is WAY overpriced for back then. The well known McDill Auto Wrecking Superbird sold for $4000 in 1982. It was a 440 six-barrel, 4-speed, petty blue car with ridiculously low miles. I saw it sitting behind a open door when I was in there buying a 4-speed for...

    Ever see a BLACK/ORANGE 71 340 Duster??

Black paint, white stripes, and orange interior is a standard color combination, and recomended in the sales literature. None of those orange cars are rare.

    Hood tach decal??

I think you need the entire face. There were two different tach faces, and I think the redline up was a different color on each. It's hard to remember since I haven't seen them since I owned GTOs, and bought every hood tach I came across. However, neither were "factory installed".

just a taste from Dad's place

Good for your dad. All the whiners that posted previously seem to have forgotten ONE IMPORTANT THING. 99% of that stuff would probably already be a Chinese made toaster if it wasn't for your dads stockpiling. He saved it...PERIOD. I don't need any of it but it was cool to take a look. As far...

    How much does it cost?

My old friend has about 17K into the motor. The headers were built by him, or there'd be another 2K in the exhaust. The Dana was done by him in the early '80s, so it would be about 1700 now, and the Jerico was nearly 6K. The car was an original 340 Demon but bought back in the early '80s, and...

    Trophy Hunters

I hope I see the guy who owns my old GTO Judge. I just KNOW it is a show car resto, since it survived into the mid '80s nearly perfect except for the blown M-21. It was a rare color too, so I got a strange feeling...... I intend to go on at length about the time during my senior year we had...

Finally got Mom to step into the 'cuda.

I miss my mom terribly. She was always a GTO fan, and she helped me to get the loan to buy my first car. ('Starlight black '68 400 H.O. 3-speed GTO) I took her for a spin, and she told me she thought the hood was going to get sucked into the carb when I got on it. She told that story all the...

How original have you kept yours and why

Do what you want...it is your car. If I aquired a car with aftermarket seats, a TKO, and RMS suspension... all of it would end up at the end of the driveway with a "FREE" sign on it.

    Got scolded by a neighbor

I am zoned agriculture but close to a big city. My neighbor is a suburban type who thinks we all have to change to accomodate him now that he lives here. Out here we have dogs that BARK, Roosters that CROW, and cars that make NOISE. If your situation was mine, my neighbor would know...that if he...

    1966 D/Dart

I had a feeling the guy was a flipper, and that is probably why I didn't sell him my parts...even though it would have been nice to get the real carb/ect on the real car. The carb package I have came in the trunk with other stuff, and I had a fabbed up tall throttle cable bracket attached to the...

    1966 D/Dart

I think it is worth the money as well; moreso than alot of other cars that trade for even more coin than that (T/A-AARs for example). From the pics you sent me, it was a honey that was just missing some of the original pieces.

    1966 D/Dart

I'm glad I didn't sell him my carb, spacer, air cleaner, and manifold. I almost broke down since I was pretty well sold on dual quads at that time...whew!. I'm no longer interested in duals.

Looking to talk to any owner of a 1971 Demon Sizzler

The plastic on those grills was gloss black plastic... not paint. So paint it gloss black or semi gloss that has a nice sheen. The trim around the grill is silver just like the standard Demon, and the body color is hosed over the entire rest of the grill. Is your car Yella? nice...

Camaro site debates mopar vs chevy

Well there you go.... I guess I'll school you. Starting in 1965, the Muncie 3-speed was determined not heavy duty enough for the GTO. An additional 3-speed was offered. A FORD built, Dearborn top loader 3-speed was offered. it was code S, RPO 785, assembly part number 9785094. in...

GM wouldn't even use the Muncie 3-speed until '70. They bought Top loader 3-speeds from Dearborn until they cost too much. Those HD 3-speeds were miles better than the Muncie. I'm not suprised you "never heard any of this ****". I grew up street racing for beer money in the '70s. I put in my...

The Munice is an adequate 4-speed. It is certainly the GM/Chev Achilles heel. They were weak. The case itself has been redesigned at least twice that I know of. The last version... the "super case" is supposed to finally be OK. I don't know much about it 'cause I don't care anymore. I...

Well if you never replaced a clutch, then you certainly didn't own the car long enough, and didn't shift the thing with any kind of authority. I have never owned an auto in my life, and I learned to drive behind the wheel of a '68 GTO when I was 15. I upgraded to a '69 Judge after a few years...
