Where can I find replacement top latches for a 64 valiant

Beware of aftermarket replacements. Mine started coming apart after just a few uses. Poor quality material in them.

What type of fluid for a 69 convertible top pump?

Be careful when refilling the pump and system. I had my pump rebuilt and bought 2 new cylinders. I've attached the instructions I got back with the refurbished pump. Jim

1969 Dart Convertible Windshield lower trim

If you are going to use the hardtop s/s trim piece you have to use the hardtop gasket - not a convertible gasket. Then you have to install the clips along the cowl and cut about 1" off each end of the strip Jim

1969 Dart Convertible Windshield lower trim

A photo of your setup would be very helpful. Not sure if you are adding a piece of s/s trim (from a non-convertible dart) or just talking about the standard convertible gasket lock strip.

1969 dart gt convertible reveal moulding clips

My '69 Cuda vert had the holes drilled in the cowl where the clips go on the fb and coupe models. I dont know for sure, but suspect the holes were punched for all models. If you are going to use the lock strip, there is no need to weld the holes. Jim

To seal or not to seal

It is DMT p/n AXX6769VK01. It also has the foam tape to go under the windshield top trim piece, but it is a different material than what is on your original Cuda. The foam tape in this kit is only 1/8" thick and is a dense black foam material.

To seal or not to seal

After seeing the above photo of the original top to dutchman panel seal, I recalled seeing a roll of white foam seal strip in one of my many parts boxes. Low and behold it was the foam strip for this location!! Now installed and the top is bolted in place.

    Windshield S/S trim seals

Thanks Carl😄😊😄😊😄 That is exactly what I was looking for. The foam looks relatively soft. Is that how it feels? I think I'll send your photo to Detroit Muscle Technologies to see if they have something like this. In the meantime, don't throw any of that...

    Windshield S/S trim seals

Thanks!!! These A Body windshield gaskets seem to be very prone to leakage. My '69 Fastback leaks under the dash and I'm pretty sure it is the windshield gasket. Jim

    Windshield S/S trim seals

Thanks Jim Looks like I'll just use some narrow thin closed cell foam strips and/or dum-dum caulking strips to ensure the water does not get inside the windshield header. I mocked this up and it seems to seal and fit OK. Jim

    Windshield S/S trim seals

The same diagram is in my '69 Manual, however this shows the weatherstrip that is attached to the front edge of the convertible top. I now see how it goes together.

    Windshield S/S trim seals

Thanks Jim Do you mean the foam weatherstrip pieces are factory on the top and in the side trim pieces? Do you have any photos? Thx Jim

    Windshield S/S trim seals

Then I need to know what seal/sealant goes under the side A Pillar S/S mouldings. One piece had a foam strip under it, but I doubt it is original. The disassembly photos seem to show some kind of foam factory sealant having been applied along the A pillar post??? Hope someone can help!! Thx

    Windshield S/S trim seals

I'm trying to figure out what type of seals (or sealant) were originally used under the: 1. Under the S/S trim piece along the top of the windshield and 2. under the A Pillar S/S trim pieces Since my car has been apart at least 2 times before I got it, I don't know how it is really...

To seal or not to seal

Are you supposed to apply sealer between the convertible top tacking strip and the mounting flange? or leave it unsealed so any rainwater can drain into the trough all the way around???
