    help id a 4 speed

there should be more number then that. PP = New process plant, 833 = trans type, 590x short a number this is the assembly date, then 4 more numbers are the built on that date. There are also additional numbers (partial vin) above the ones posted such as 8Bxxxxxx, this should cover all...

    identify this inland shifter

The angle of the picture IS misleading. From the first picture it looks like console, the third it doesn't. The non-console bents forward the sweeps back, pics 4 and 5 appears non. Console shifter kicks to right side abruptly like the second set, but I don't recall it kicking that far as in the...

    Can anyone ID this shifter?

Look like an OD f-body unit to me. If the bell is proper it is a good deal at that price. v8 OD bells are hard to find around here. If doing conversion - do you have pedals, z-bar and down-bar yet?

    833 id ??

The numbers after the date are the number of transmissions assembled that day in this case 0036 is the 36th assembled at the PP new process. Normally there are another set of numbers above these and those are the vin identifiers. This could have been, and probably is, a warranty case as it was...

    1967 4spd/8.75 drive shaft length

I just measured mine 67 barracuda 4-spd, 8.75 rear. It measures 48.75 from joint center to center. The 489 case should be big joint already. The 67 4-spd if small block is small yoke, if big block large yoke.

Auto console converted to a 4 speed console?

you can use the auto console for 4-spd without modification, it just wont use the side cover that the 4-spd had but will work and fit without issue,

can anyone tell me what this a body 4 speed came from?

477 tail shaft is big yoke abody, 8b stamped in case 1968 hamtramck built. I would say 1968 340 or 383 barracuda or dart.

    Clutch fork HELP

As far as I know they make 2 different ones. One is 12 1/2 inches long and the other 10 7/8 inches long 12 1/2 would be for a-body small block with 10.5 inch bellhousing. I would check with http://www.brewersperformance.com/ they should have it w/o braking it off in you.

Hurst Competition Plus any cheaper than $500

Some of the GM shifters have larger holes for the linkage. If you use Mopar linkage they will need bushings.

Hurst Competition Plus any cheaper than $500

Jim, try this link.. certainly cheaper then 500 for the mechanism. https://hurstshiftersonline.com/productcart/pc/viewcategories.asp?idcategory=23

Hurst Competition Plus any cheaper than $500

With Hurst there are bolt in for early A, then slip in later, and then they went back to bolt on handles. All of the Mopar shifters will work, handle aside. I think the odd ball of the group is the 70 B-body which had a longer finger for the reverse rod.

    4 speed questions

You may already know this but i'll put it out there in case....depending on availability of parts. It is about a $1k-1500 conversion. Transmission Bellhousing Flywheel clutch kit register/pilot bearing IF crank is drilled deep enough for input shaft. Possibly cut tip of transmission off for it...

    4 speed questions

no, it is not a bad thing. You just need to know what it is you have/buying. As I mentioned some of the parts are different. Is the car already a 4spd? Or are you converting it? Regular 4-spd's run 4-500 while the OD's are half that. Of course if they have fresh bearings and brass the price...

There is no vin pad on the right side of the case. So it is prior to 68, at least the case appears to be. It may have been a trunion trans that was converted to a slip yoke. casting number C-13386 alum extension housing is for A-body overdrive transmissions with 26 spline output. You Need the...

    833 question

agreed the shifter w/rods is worth 150-200 mounting bracket is 40-50. That's damn near your money right there the trans was a bonus. Sell the trans for 250 and keep the shifter, rods and mount for when you find a non-OD.

    833 identification

They are not difficult to rebuild w/average skill set - brass, bearing and gasket kit cost about $150 USD of course plus shipping to Austria. It sounds like they want close too all the money for this transmission bundle though. You might see if someone in your area is going to Carlisle next...

    833 identification

Not sure what you can purchase this set up for? OD gear boxes are a LOT cheaper (and easier to find) than an actual 4-spd 833. 4-spd's go in the 4-500 range. OD's in the 2-250 range. The bell housing and shifter/rods is added bonus. Plus add the z-bar mount, fork and boot. Just the bell (if not...
