Big Block 893 oils pans are in stock

I compared the repo pan to my original 893 pan. It is a near perfect match. I would almost say the new one is a touch thicker, which I consider a good thing. Other than that the three baffles are correct with some very slight variances and will never be seen once installed.

    383 A-Body Valve Covers Question

67 R/T and GTX used chrome valve covers also. I believe they were the same as A-body. I have a right side w/o bracket on my green car, which I know is incorrect for 67.

    BB A-Body dipstick repro available

Correct Gerald, 67 through 69 were the same for an actual A-body big block with 893 pan. They've made the tubes, but not the sticks until recently as far as I know or could ever find..

    correct exhaust manifolds

only left side is 440 only. The right side 2863900 is 383 and 440 - as you have pictured. Yes Rani the 67's are a bit more restrictive then the 68-9's. With that said it would not sway me one second from coming off what I wanted for them. Exhaust manifolds are restrictive by nature than say...

    correct exhaust manifolds

there's no replacement for displacement!! It is the 440 a-body left side going for that kind of money. I've picked up a few sets of 383's in the 5-600+ range for factory cars. If it wasn't a resto I would for sure go with headers or modified b-body hp manifolds and leave the factory stuff for...

Rani, that may very well be possible.

    correct exhaust manifolds

the first two picture are factory a-body big block 2863900. It has a longer down leg to the b-body b/rb hp manifold also a quick tell tale is the casting number is on the front leg not in the middle. On the car is the b-body manifold and when I get the correct engine back in the car the correct...

    correct exhaust manifolds

B-body B/RB hp manifold will fit on right side, but without milling it will also hit the right inner fender skirt if using factory bb a-body K-frame. I do not know if spool mount k-frame sits different?

    Rebuilding Original Engine 383-s Fastback

if that +/- half point in compression bothers you. You can, down the road, use the thin .026 head gaskets or find some 915 heads to get it back. I'd run the 9:5 pistons and enjoy it being able to drive it anywhere.

Is this a big block K-member? W/ pics of motor/mounts?

If the picture above is the k-frame in question The answer is yes it is for a big block, By the look of the idler arm it is from a 67.

torque or alignment? notch to notch same as rods. If that's what you're asking.
  15. Rocky_JS

    440 rod cap ?

The bearing notch on the cap goes with the bearing notch on the rod. All the others should be in agreement with this to verify.

1969 383 crankshafts: cast or all forged

If an E came after the date then we would be considering something else, but the letter before the 383 is the model year.

1969 383 crankshafts: cast or all forged

E 383 = C-67, D-68, "E-69", F-70 So from the numbers you gave E 383 is a 1969 model 383, 11 25 2 is the assembly date 11/25/68 and should proceed the engine casting date 11/15/68 which it does. The last "2" is the shift.

1969 383 crankshafts: cast or all forged

69 383 should be forged, but if ever changed/rebuilt it could be cast 400. Do you have a casting number from the crank? That will tell you.

Big block A body spool mount K member?

Jim while not trying to argue. I have done it in the 80's. The spool mounts and width of the tabs and how they mount aren't any different then in a big block 400 cordoba in 76. So Chrysler did do it they just didn't put the big block in an a-body after 69. Big block a-bodies didn't sell well...

Big block A body spool mount K member?

I among a lot of other cars had stuck a 440 in a 73 dart sport I had which was a factory 340 car. It requires no modification to any mounts to make it fit right in the factory unmodified spool-type k-frame and chassis. All I used were 76 Chrysler Cordoba motor mounts for a big block. I also used...

with the spool mount K-frames from the 73-up cars you can drop a big block right on the mounts using 400 cordoba etc motor mounts.

    440 oil pan to 67 formula s.

The factory BB A-body 893 will work with no issues as it is already properly notched for clearance. I have a 402 in my other BB a-body it too has no issue with pan to drag link idler clearance.. BTW the 893 pan is ueber rare.

    How to ID a 440?

An RB engine (440) has the pad as shown circled in picture, while a B engine (383) does not have this pad. Its information is on a pad by the distributor. The pads information will give year and CID. example: "C 440" = 1967, "F 440" = 1970. There are other ways casting number etc, but the above...

How do i get my BB Dart to hook???

gear and tire should good and should bring you through 1/4 around 6k in high hear. I used to run (440/auto) with a simple set-up - batt in trunk on right side, pinion snubber, front 90/10 and rear 50/50 shocks and the rear leaf spring clamps removed. The car hooked hard on nearly any surface.
