I believe it allows the U shaped speed nut to slide on That allows the 5/16 bolt to tighten the tray down. It also requires a brace below the tray. Do you have that?

When I wired my 68 Barracuda, I would use a piece of con volute tubing or heat shrink on the very end where the tape ends.

Apply twelve volts to the field wire while its running , with the volt meter hooked to your battery. It should charge wide open. If so its your VR.

No it grounds thru the block. Do you have power to the field wire at the altenator when it’s running? I’m guessing you don’t.

No one yet has been able to beat my 16 year old red top Optima. If I hadn’t owned it I wouldn’t believe it my self. But the one thing I have always done was DC the positive cable when I park the Dart.

Wouldn’t it be easier to adapt a 3 speed wiper switch to your 2 speed harness? This way you have the push feature of the switch to operate the pump?

Yeah if I recall they had a sensitivity screw. If you made it to light the cat or your dog scratching or the wind would set it off.

Those were a real old attempt at a car alarm. They had to be mounted level and it was wired into your car horn. It worked off a pendulum principle. When your car was rocked it made your horn beep when the contacts closed. I had one or two.

Looks like a plug with about 30k miles more than it should have on it. Replace the other 3 and forget about it.

Sounds like ballast resistor is bad.
