    Air cleaner

I would say it depends on how much air your motor sucks through the filter. For example, I run the factory 71 air cleaner and picked up a decent amount unsealing the lid a 1/4".

    Advice needed on manifold repair

As someone who has cut apart factory cast iron intake manifolds and exhaust manifolds and re welded them, I would not attempt fixing it. You will chase those cracks into areas you won't have access too.

    J head porting

Eh. J heads can be made to work ok.

    King race bearings equivalent

Good luck. I waited over a year and gave up. Bought some regular clearance ones and shaved the backside to get the clearance I needed.

    Brian’s stepped up again.

Luckily for me I don't have a Facebook account. Lol. I don't think the car is all that special, if anything it just shows how stubborn I am when I set my mind to an idea. There are a couple of cars being built that on paper should be easy contenders for giving the duster a run for it's money...

    Brian’s stepped up again.

Right around there. Unfortunately added weight to the front and rear this year. Was in such a rush at the end to get the motor together, and then get the rear end straightened out I did not get a chance to get it on the scales.

    Brian’s stepped up again.

If I had the money to start over with a new block, it wouldn't be the way I would go. I had too much money in this block when I found out it was a turd.

340 restoration block. All the weight of an r3 with none of the benefits. Yes 4.07"

    Brian’s stepped up again.

I took the g/f for ice cream in it last year? No extrude honing the exhaust, I just hogged them out the old fashioned way. I don't know if anyone has looked at the passenger side exhaust manifold on a 71 340, but even getting as thin as I dared, the outlet is only a touch over 1 7/8". Can't...

    Brian’s stepped up again.

Best pass of the weekend. Learned a lot about the new motor combo. The new rear suspension seems to have a lot of potential that I just need some track time to work through, but at least I got it back to where it was. @PRH I'll be calling soon. I have ideas.

    Brian’s stepped up again.

Still off in the 60', but man the work over the year in the motor is starting to show. Air is 1200' so still not mineshaft. Think I have something figured out for tomorrow.

    Brian’s stepped up again.

We agreed I would give him the hit. That was my best run of the weekend. I don't have any kind of data recording or any electronics so I use the gas pedal to get it off the line and usually can get mid 1.5's but this new motor is a lot trickier. If I had to guess, I didn't go full throttle...

    Brian’s stepped up again.

Yup. And I really appreciate it! I learned a lot doing this intake, I have easily a couple months of my life into it. Made a mistake I didn't catch or think about until I went to bolt it on Sunday. I port matched it to a gasket, realized my mistake when I went to glue the gaskets to the...

    Brian’s stepped up again.

Still working at it. Got the new motor running Tuesday night at about 10, loaded it in the trailer and drove 8hrs Wednesday to get MIR. Best mph of the weekend was 129.46, air was about 1300' so looking at old time slips it's up about 2.4mph from the old motor. I don't think it gained much up...

    Cometic gaskets

Hoping to get a little more out of the combo this time around. New heads, intake and exhaust manifolds. A little more squeeze. On paper it should be interesting.. reality I will probably be running with rhet..

    Cometic gaskets

? 10.49 @128.2mph using a factory thermoquad, j-heads, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, 2.5" full exhaust, all steel, full interior, on a 6" wide poly glass reproduction tire.

    Cometic gaskets

Yeah I took them apart and coated them. Just found out today that there was a "scanning error" with ups so instead of today, I am getting the pushrods Monday. Can't win.

    Cometic gaskets

Hey guys. Finally have most of the pieces to get the dusters F.A.S.T. motor together. Using cometic head gaskets. Cometic says to install dry, others say to cut the rivets and copper coat all layers, others say to use a thin coat of rtv around all water passages on each layer, others say to...

Let's Build a 416 with Cast Iron Heads and Manifolds

If he is using factory 71 exhaust manifolds, I will be surprised if it makes 530hp if he runs a pump gas compression and not a roller cam.

    340 resto or R3 blocks

I tried, could not find a listing for 4-bolt main small block Mopar. Mostly interested if there is a difference between the inner and outer.

Yeah, was hoping to get an answer this weekend, but will Monday morning.

    340 resto or R3 blocks

Anybody have the torque specs for main caps for the 4-bolt main blocks? I have arp studs in the block, but can't find the part number online to get the torque recommendations.
