    Thermoquad

I had to make larger n&s when switching to q16 fuel. I believe I got .124 to seal, any larger and it would be inconsistent. Also required larger secondary jets. Most say you can make about the same horsepower on either, and E-85 is a heck of a lot cheaper. The class dictates factory intake...

    Thermoquad

Since everyone seems to be excited about thermoquads again I figure it's a good time to mull this over. What would it take to get a thermoquad to flow enough fuel to feed a 550+/- ish horsepower motor on E-85 or C-85? Also just for fun, what's the quickest 1/4mile anyone has run with one?

gas tank only 13ish gallons???? missing 3-4 gallons

My 74 duster has around a 13 gallon tank. I know this because I ran out of gas about 50ft from the gas station and it took 13.1 gallons to fill it.

    Best TQ rebuild kit?

Thats bigger than the jets I run in my stroker motor, on Q16. You ever put an a/f meter on it? Just curious.

    Best manifold for ThermoQuad-equipped 340

Anybody have proof that the 71 intake is the best? Just curious. I have heard it from day one, its the only reason I built a 71 duster. But is there documented dyno tests out there?

340 Six Pak...smokin', or blowin' smoke?

Its a 72 340 tq. Been worked in every area. The jets are drilled to I believe .154, the rods are polished down. Hard to get enough fuel in at the right time when using Q16. It still is pretty rich down low. If I didnt have to launch at 1100rpm it woul be easier to get the fuel curve right...

340 Six Pak...smokin', or blowin' smoke?

Another comparision for six-pack to 71 340 intake. When I first built the duster and it was running slower than I wanted I swapped the six-pack set-up from my fathers AAR (already had been tuned with the motor). So I went from a hogged out 71 340 intake and a thermoquad that was tuned pretty...

    Thermoquad race tune

I agree with the intial advance, and also tighten the secondary air door up. Does the accelerator pump rod have different holes? If so, try the hole that gives the biggest/longest shot possible. As for massaging the airways, I never took pics, but I can take some. Pretty simple, same thing...

    Thermoquad race tune

Dave built me the carb that was supposed to be the best of the best, all the tricks. After replacing the accelerator pump and spring, I ran the carb. I tuned the carb in to a good a/f, which was one metering rod and jet change. I then built the same number carb, using all the parts from...

    Thermoquad race tune

I see it change the a/f when I open or close the air door, the problem I have is it doesn't change the e/t or mph as it should. For example, if I close the door up .075, it changes the a/f 1.75 points, but the car will mph and e/t the same. If I leave the air door at the set measurement (Yes I...

    Thermoquad race tune

Thats funny coming from the guy I spent 400 dollars on a thermoquad that was supposed to be the best of the best and it wouldn't get past 2k rpm because he never replaced the spring in the accelerator pump and it was broken.... Then my home built thermo picked up 1 tenth over his... In 3 yrs...

    Thermoquad race tune

Thermoquads are all junk, and they run like chit. Hard to keep a tune, don't do what they are supposed too when you tune them. Parts need to be made to fine tune them. A/F Meter numbers mean jack-**** when trying to tune. You have to resort to throwing fuel or air at it to see if it picks up...
