my Turbine car inspired dash setup. The dash face is a brushed aluminum 3m dinoc and it actually feels like brushed aluminum.

My Review of $126.00 Carpet (pictures too)

Never a problem. I forget where I ordered them from, but I got them online for $350 for the pair w/shipping. I had to build some brackets to mount them.

My Review of $126.00 Carpet (pictures too)

I'm glad this helped everyone out. Also, riddler, these guys seemed like they'd make pretty much whatever you want. They were knowledgeable and came to me first saying I selected the wrong style of carpet for a '68 Dart as far as correctness goes, so they could probably help you out. I'd...

    Turbine Inspired Center Console DIY

Thanks everyone. I have this problem where I think of something, then do it, I don't like to drag projects out - it makes me upset because I'll forget about what the final product was supposed to look like before I finish it. I know I could make a couple more turbine themed pieces but I...

    Turbine Inspired Center Console DIY

Thanks Junkyard, and 73. It's kind of depressing to be near the end because it was super fun. But I had a nice hour long tape session going with some frog tape (good stuff) and paper, and masked off everything that would not be semi-gloss black. I shot three nice coats of black, then...

    Turbine Inspired Center Console DIY

Well, I decided to add a little flair, as I was watching that turbine car video posted by Jay Leno and he was talking about the dash plaque that says "TURBINE POWER by CHRYSLER" and I wanted something like that too, but not on the dash - on the piece, so I kind of recreated it, but for my...

    Turbine Inspired Center Console DIY

I got the second layer of aluminum banding on the turbine and then added some chrome striping. You'd think I knew what I was doing the whole time... but I didnt... I still need to work out a way to attach it to the final assembly. I finished the body work finally, and laid down some...

    Turbine Inspired Center Console DIY

I Put on some real thin bits of spot glaze, which adhered nice to the primer last night. I sanded it off with some 80 gritt this morning, and finished out the curves with 220. I had hoped this would be the last, or at least second to last spot check, but I really don't want to see any bumps or...

    Turbine Inspired Center Console DIY

Well, decided to fire up my dremel and hit the superstructure and put a more finalized shape on it. After looking at various shades of bondo, epoxy, epoxy filler, and spot glaze, i decided to hit it with a primer. I picked up one intended for weird surfaces. It filled in the grain a little like...

    Turbine Inspired Center Console DIY

Well, did another big push on the console today for the last day of working on it for the week. I'll do a couple little things but i won't be back at my shop till monday. I had hoped to have this done for a car show on next Sunday, but weather I get it in time or not, the car is still going. I...

    Turbine Inspired Center Console DIY

Thanks. I get ideas and then just kind of go to town and do it. I wanted a center console and I wanted to keep the turbine theme going - turbo in the engine bay, turbine in the cabin. :glasses7:

    Turbine Inspired Center Console DIY

Just stick with it. I promise it will all come together. I hope in the end it will all make sense. Here's an image for the "style" I am working with. Not the actual piece, just the idea: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2017/2885986162_703e58180c.jpg Also this is a really professional...

    Turbine Inspired Center Console DIY

While I'm waiting till tomorrow to do some more body work on the substructure, I started working on the "turbine". I had the perfect things for it too. I have some plastic electric fans that were a total flop for cooling. They didn't pull barely anything through the rad compared to my steel fan...

    Turbine Inspired Center Console DIY

Got bondo glass over this to smooth out the epoxied fabric and some of the edges. Surprisingly the glass laid down real smooth. I like this repair tape stuff. I may use it again. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the nice smooth green bondo glass, and all I have is the bondo layer...

    Turbine Inspired Center Console DIY

Well, got a couple layers of glass laid down today. I remembered how messy and awful chop mat is, and went with fiberglass repair tape. It is just woven glass in about a 2" wide strip. It's super clean (for fiberglass) and it allowed me to touch the stuff with my hands and mold it down where it...

    Turbine Inspired Center Console DIY

So after someone posted some pics of the interior of a Chrysler Turbine car, I decided I really - really liked that center console - so much that I kind of wanted one similar to it. I was thinking of just making another standard kind of square or coffin shaped (like stock) center console now...

My Review of $126.00 Carpet (pictures too)

No problem guys. Maybe this will be a cheap solution for someone else. I'm pretty happy for what I paid, and it's a vast improvement over what I had. The car just feels so comfortable now. Once i reupholster my bench seat and redo the headliner, the interior will be completely redone.

Sorry, the seller name on ebay is different than the name of the website they actually sell things on, is this is a link to the exact one I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/370373124320?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and the actual site they use for sales and...

My Review of $126.00 Carpet (pictures too)

I recently scrounged up a carpet for my 4 door 1968 Dart on Ebay. I would up finding a place called AutoCarpetDirect and they had one available that could be made to order for basically any kind of A-body, you just tell them the amount of doors, is it a column or floor shift, bench or buckets...

    Dynamat...Worth The $?

Peel n' Seal from Lowes. I used to have to yell at people in the car to converse just from road noise. Now you can talk normally. About $30 did the whole floor of my 4 door. THat's about 2 1/2 rolls. It's in the window aisle. Window flashing. I tried Bituthane before (pronounced...

    Kick panel speakers

I made a temporary fix to add 6.5's to my panels till I got a new set to mold off of. This makes it so only two small holes go in the actual panel, and sets the speakers under the dash. Very temp looking, but effective. It's just two ABS rings i manufactrued with a lip.

    Difficulty with Vinyl

I totally forgot about contact cement. I would say this is the better option to super 77, but it requires patience.

    Difficulty with Vinyl

I redid most of my 68 interior with vinyl so far. Make sure you have some super 77 and use hot glue when you stretch it to attach it to the back of the part. I would also recommend using a heat gun or hair dryer if you get to a spot where you need it to be more pliable. It's also a good idea to...

    Firebird seats

I have Camaro seats in my Dart. I do not like them... but they were there when I bought it. They do fold nearly flat back though, but it's not as cool as like a Rambler American or a HOnda CRv. But comfortable? Yes. I'll trade you for a set of Mopar seats, or a bench. lol

Do you know what these mystery parts are?

The top ones look like headrest brackets that a headrest would slide down into, or a window visor bracket. I'm not sure. The bottom ones are very obviously 1960's cell phone clips (I dunno):tard: Also that's a guitar pick, probably medium thickness. Value: $0.10

    center console ideas

I say you make it. Wouldn't take too much work to make it look like it belongs, just a lot of hard edges, with soft material. Don't make it complex. I'm still building my own: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=224960

    Carpet and sound proofing.

I did the peel and seal, which I learned about on this site. Previously I've always had hushmat. I will say my interior is still a bit loud, but better than it was, and for $50 for the whole setup, it's not bad.

    Console fittament on 66 console

That cup holder looks like it gives barely any clearance to the floor. Could that be the problem? If the seats aren't in yet, try stretching the carpet to the doors to push the hump part down. Or pull the carpet, get rid of the padding on the sides of the hump, or the metallic stuff you put...
