    HOW BAD IS IT!

I would remove all 3 linkage rods and set 3 levers at neutral position. Star the engine, while on jack stand, see if wheel spin; if it does apply brake see if it stop

    68 Inland 4-speed shifter

You new cable should be long enough to work on. But if it just right at the t-handle, do this: 1) Use the stud push the lead ball up, held them on the ground so that the cable come out all the way. 2) Install the t-handle. Hand tighten the lock bold. 3) Lower the stud until the lead ball at...

    Pilot bearing

Pilot bearing was per-lubricated. They made pilot bearing in 2000-up, at least they expect it last for acceptable years?

20" long pistol grip in A-body

This is approximately 3" offset. What stick you're using? All factory handle knob seem lean toward to driver, but the pistol grip lean up front. I have not tried it in my car yet, but this 8x9 inches boot should work:

20" long pistol grip in A-body

At 2nd gear the grip handle barely hit steering wheel. Here the pics of 70 B-body pistol grip in my 68 Valiant, with the original A-body shifter. (I have not tried my new offset-shifter yet) At 3rd gear: ***************** 4th gear: ******************* Neutral:

    Pilot bearing

In this theory, how should we explain why they use rolller bearing in cluster-gear, instead of bushing?

    Pilot bearing

That what I thought, pilot/roller bearing was designed for 2000-up Dakota, they should not have problem with A833 OD.

20" long pistol grip in A-body

I like the 20" long pistol grip handle from 1970 B-body. Installed one in my 68 Valiant, all shifts fine but 2nd gear hit the steering wheel. I made this offset shifter to solve the problem. The body and levers are original A-body shifter, I swap the main-tower for the offset one. It's been...

    Pilot bearing

    Keep breaking 3rd gear

Do you take 300 for the broken trans, including the broken clustergear. I'll pay for shipping. After I got it strengthen, I will offer back to you for cost of new parts only (probably around 800). If you dont take it, I will offer here for A-body fellows, same cost; only requirement is he...

    Keep breaking 3rd gear

Subscribed. I got another way to solve this over-powered trans but dont have time to post yet. Will post later. It will required a good machinist.

    Keep breaking 3rd gear

The clustergear have only 2 pairs of bearing at each end; at the center is bearing-spacer (red arrow). If clustergear (housing) or countershaft broke, you can strengthen it by remove the bearing-spacer and add roller-bearing instead. I have not yet done it, nor heard anyone done it, just a...

    23 spline to 18 spline

I agree, 18 spline A833 have a different gear set. The ratio(s) is different to match engine horsepower and torque. The purpose is to optimize the transition between gear shift. By the way, the one you said you took apart, was it A-body 833 18 spline?

    A833 rebuild, remove tailshaft bushing?

So I just use hammer to tap the countershaft out? How hard is it? I did use big plastic hammer, tapped very hard but it does not seem to work. Is something wrong with countershaft like it worn out and it stuck in the case, is it possible? (I never rebuild A833 before) Im thinking of using...
