    How to go about?

Hi Guys, I bought a prop valve from a 73-76 A-body car and was wondering what the best route in cleaning it would be? I never had one apart or even know if they can be taken apart without hurting them?? Sorry my pics are a little fuzzy at close range. I guess my questions are, can this be...

    Can you ID these brakes?

Sorry, he did not send me any pictures of the calipers..Just what you see here. The seller also told me that these rotors and calipers were only 8 months old, taken off a show car and replaced with an aftermarket setup....*Yikes* Looks a bit older then that to me..... :angry7:

Brake drums won't fit HELP! (pics)

Maybe I missed something above in your posts on what exactly your using? But from experience the small bolt pattern backing plates (if thats what you are still using) have a different offset then the large bolt pattern backing plates (needed for large bolt pattern drums). So when you go to mount...

Brake drums won't fit HELP! (pics)

If using the Yukon axles, they are considered large bolt pattern and you NEED to get the correct backing plates, drums and hardware for them to work properly. Just about any 1965 and newer (up to early 1980's I believe) as long as they are 10x2.5" or the large 11" they will work. Look for any...

    Big bolt pattern?

I got my backing plates and drums, etc off a 79 Volare with a 7 1/4 rear. Large bolt pattern. Purchased new Yukon axles and it all bolted up to my A-body 8 3/4 with no problems. No drilling.

Urgent!! will front brakes work on back

I may be wrong but I dont think Dusters came with the 10x 2.5" brakes??...Go look up parts for a 1979 Plymouth Volare, those indeed had the 10"x2.5" brakes. Thats what I used.

Urgent!! will front brakes work on back

If they are front backing plates your installing on the rear, do they have the provisions on them for the E-brakes to come through?? I honestly dont think you can use fronts on rears...holddowns etc all have different #'s. Sorry to say but you may wanna search a set out elsewhere. You can find...

Urgent!! will front brakes work on back

I think the brake parts are totally different. I know the wheel cylinders are. You need the 10 x 2.5" from just about any car dated from 1965 and newer. I got mine off a 79 Plymouth Volare (A member here hooked me up). Just about any car, truck or van will suffice. I assume your doing this for...

    10" backing plates???

Thanks, I think I will stick with the 10" as I have heard some people "claim" to have issues with the huge 11" rear brakes on A-body's needing adjustable prop valves to "tune" them in and such.......Plus they say its overkill on an A-body. I do not have any experience with this so I cannot say...

    10" backing plates???

What cars should I look for to get the correct backing plates/drums etcc for use with my 8 3/4 rear? What is interchangable as far as the 4.5" big bolt pattern is concerned??....Thanks.

    10" backing plates???

Guys, I have a nice set of the 10" backing plates that had the 10x 1 3/4 shoes on them. They came with my 8 3/4 rear, small bolt pattern axle setup. Im thinking of going large bolt pattern on the rear axles by getting a set of the yukon axles they make. Now, if I go with this, can I use the 10"...
