I think Ma Mopar did this in various ways from what I can see. Seems though that if the stripe was present with the engine callout you wouldn't have the script callout on the fender. Maybe a fish in that spot.

I've uploaded this shot from the 1970 Hamtramck Registry site. This from an original 69 Barracuda brochure/ dealership data book. It has the 383 car decked out in a stripe, Barracuda emblem and the 383-S emblem. If I just added the stripe, that's the way my car would be today.

Hmmmm. No fish under the Barracuda emblem on this black car.

I've seen them with both as well. That's why I wondered which was really correct. I suspect that cars without the stripe called out got the 383S emblem below the Barracuda.

Very nice cars. The stripe does look very good on all those color combos. I notice my car has the 383-S emblem below the Barracuda on the fenders. Incorrect since it came with the V6X option?

My original 71 Curious Yellow Cuda is very bright yellow.

It's actually SunFire as indicated on the chart. By description, SunFire would seem to me to be a bright color but that's not the case.

Yes Dave it is supposed to have that V6X stripe. I wanted to look at some other Fastbacks painted that color to see if I like the stripe or not. I think it looks good on some colors and not so much on others.

Y2 is on the fender tag. Is that what you're referring to?

Thanks to all !! I've mainly had/restored E and B body cars the last 40 years. Never thought I could come up with an A body big block fastback, which has been on my bucket list for a long time. Finally got all the gages/lights working. Just got the factory tach operational today.

It needs a repaint, clutch package and a driver front lower seat cover. It does still have it's original paint in the trunk & under hood. I think the door jams were redone though. Thanks. This one has factory front and rear sway bars. Pretty loaded fender tag. Has 5 package codes. A04, A06, A53, A62, A86. Power front drums and power steering.
