    Headers on a 95 5.9 with f.i.?

For the longest time I had gasket sealing issues running LA headers on magnum heads. The ports are different enough where the gasket is thin is some places. I found that using Remflex gaskets (THE best gaskets I've ever tried, and I've tried a bunch) to match the header (LA) fixed the issue...

    Kickdown

Yup, if you're running the stock throttle body it won't be a problem. I set up a Lokar kit on my buddy's efi Dakota who is running a 727 and it was easy peasy.

    Max lift/stock slugs

I need to correct something I said in one of my previous posts. The cam my buddy was running was not ~.570" lift, but closer to .550". We don't have the tech card at the moment since it's at another friend's shop, but I will check the cam card next time I'm over there. I appologize for the...

Yes that is a magnum cam, not an LA roller retrofit.

    Max lift/stock slugs

This is the cam I was running in my carbed 5.9 magnum. Other than valvesprings (I used the MP .525" lift springs) no modiications were needed. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cca-20-746-9 IMO it would work well in a street car. It has a decent idle if you're at the exact rpm, but...

    Max lift/stock slugs

A buddy of mine was running ~.570 lift with 1.7 rockers in his 5.9 Magnum. Stock short block with ported stock heads. We have no idea what the ptv clearance was, but upon inspection after it blew we didn't see any evidence of a valve contacting the piston. On a side note, if you run a stiff...

Magnum swap-what all mods can you make still using factory efi

SCT tuner with the stock ECU. I run around with a bunch of Dakota guys and that's what they run. Three of them are running 408 strokers with big cams with no problems getting a good tune. Check out the Dakota R/T forum, lots of good info there on this subject.

how much nitrous will a stock magnum motor take

. I am no expert, but this seems all wrong to me. Other than the tip about not activating below 3500 and the bottle warmer, it pretty much goes against just about everything I've learned about nitrous.

how much nitrous will a stock magnum motor take

My ignition box (MSD 6530) has a programable step retard so it only pulls timing when the system is activated.

how much nitrous will a stock magnum motor take

I'm running a 125 shot (55n/47f) on mine right now and have put about a dozen passes or so on it. I'm at 8 degrees of timing pulled to wind up at 26 total. I thought I was being very safe pulling that much and was surpirsed to see it was about right after reading the plugs.

    360 magnum heads, intake?

Here's mine. It's a little (ok, a lot) more robust than it needs to be, but I wanted to be able to use multiple times. It even has removeable bushings so the drill bit doesn't wear the bores out.

    .030 5.9 magnum

I have a question, and before I start let me just say that I'm not trying to come off as rude or anything. There's no way of knowing your experience level, so, I've got to ask. How exactly did you come to the conclusion about the motor being already .030" over? Did you measure or possibly see a...

    Converting a 318-360 magnum to adjustable valvetrain.LOL

You are right Rusty, there are proven aftermarket options available. However the question isn't if anyone has installed aftermarket adjustable rockers, it's whether or not anyone has modified the stock rockers to be adjustable. I think it just got lost in there somewhere. What he's...

I don't think the pushrods I linked will work for you. They're for a stock Magnum with stock rockers.

    OEM magnum lifters setup

Needs to be quicker, lol. Problem is that I REALLY love how streetable it is. I drive it everywhere. As a matter of fact I took a 700 mile trip to my dad's over the 4th. I even took it to the track the night before driving back home, the car's reliable as a rock. But, it's to the point...

    LA intake magnum head questions

I've been thinking about this since discussing it in the other thread. Guess I should have mentioned it sooner, but do you want to give my jig a shot?

    OEM magnum lifters setup

I just wanted to follow up on this. I bought a set of the pushrods I linked (6.936") and there is a noticeable improvement over the stockers. The lifters seem to hold their prime better so it doesn't "rattle" as much on a cold start, it sounds almost stock at idle, and the "sewing machine"...

What to do with my 360 magnum??

The cam, carb, and intake were all chosen for a boosted application, none of which are best suited for a n/a 360. My combo isn't one to base yours on. It runs good, but ran better with a larger carb and an Edelbrock Air-Gap intake (about 2 tenths).

What to do with my 360 magnum??

If you drill the heads it won't make it where you can't go back. They will work with both style intakes.

What to do with my 360 magnum??

As far as I know there is no longer a jig being rented out to drill a magnum head for an la intake. This is one I built but never tested.

What to do with my 360 magnum??

Don't sweat the cracked head thing. Yes, that is one small reason I wouldn't bother porting them (hard to resell if you ever wanted to upgrade), but even if they crack they're not junk. Both heads on my motor were cracked when when I bolted them on 6 years ago, and I'm not really worried about...

What to do with my 360 magnum??

I wound up using the LA accessory setup on my Magnum but wish I just kept the serpentine. I think it's a worthwhile upgrade unless you prefer the old style look of the v rib belts. An electric fuel pump is better anyway imo, if only for the fact you don't have to crank the motor over and wait...

    OEM magnum lifters setup

Brought back from the dead and I think you just did me a favor. My lifters also bleed down and the valvetrain is quite noisy in my magnum. If I'm reading this thread correctly, going to a slightly longer pushrod could solve both these issues? If so I'm sorry I missed this thread last year...

Best performance possible from 5.9L Magnum stock bottom end?

Magnums respond well to boost and there have been a few Dakota guys who have done well on the stock bottom end. I would personally be completely comfortable with a 500+ whp boosted magnum. As long as the tune was good and rpms were kept at or below 5500.

    Magnum Cam Selection Suggestions

Smaller diameter converters tend to be more efficient at part throttle, so it'll drive just like normal on the highway. My 3400 stall is a lock-up, but I only use it on the highway. Even then the rpm's only drop a little because the converter fits my car nicely. Never underestimate the...

    Magnum Cam Selection Suggestions

Sounds about right. Just a note on the converter, your estimation is a little low imo. If you contact a few good converter companies don't be surprised to get a recommendation for a 9.5" converter in the 3500-4000 range. Don't be afraid of that, it's a good thing, and will be one of the...
