'69 Dart rear suspension kit questions (RMS and ControlFreak)

I believe abodyjoe had the RMS Lynx? setup on his Dart? If so, he will be a very good source for the pros and the cons of that setup.

Why spend on a rebuilding kit when you can buy rebuilt Kelsey Hayes SBP units for $60?

70 Duster 340 Leaf Springs- Any Value ?

I'm sure you can get something for the springs. I cannot remember seeing anyone selling a used set of factory 340 springs by themselves, so I can't really give a price. BTW about your car - is this the same car that was restored at the S & S Mopar shop out in California (Cali desert area)...

1970 duster small bolt to big bolt spindle swap

X2 I don't understand why you want to move away from the SBP disc setup. Parts for the SBP setup are plentiful now and cheap, including rotors, calipers and the rest. The only item not being repopped is the rotor hat. You simply reuse the existing hat whenever you need to install new...

XRF and Spicer Pro grade front end components are considered severe duty service level, which far exceeds most of the consumer grade stuff. Talk to Dick, owner at Firmfeel for his insights into front suspension components, he is very experienced in this area, and will share his knowledge...

Installed Pro Spicer line of front end components along with Hotchkiss upgrades. This was a on a 1970 factory Duster 340. Also added a Firm Feel fast ratio steering box. The car performed way beyond any factory 340 A body that I have owned, in fact, I 'd highly recommend Hotchkiss to...

    Manual Gearbox 16 x 1 Ratio?

Hey Pete, I know you did your own setup, what did you end up doing as far as firming up your power steering box? Wasn't it that Firm Feel and other vendors like Steer + Gear were selling power steering boxes that basically only had a few simple changes from factory stock, yet the charges were...

    Alterkation front end swap

I think Joe 's car has been on the road with the RMS setup for at least several years, with a bunch of road miles on the setup. If anything was amiss with RMS's setup, Joe would have experienced problems by now. I have a matching numbers 1971 340 Duster and even with that type of an...

    Manual Gearbox 16 x 1 Ratio?

These were available as a factory option on the 1969 340 Dart Swingers. I'm sure there were other applications, probably the 1968-69 'Cuda Formula S.

    Rebuilding front end

If you want to do rebuild your front suspension one time and forget about it, the best quality stuff out there is either the Spicer Pro series or the Moog Pro series. The Spicer uses really substantially well-built ball jonts and the like. Having seen a number of the aftermarket kits go...

    Alterkation Question

Abodyjoe is the man to ask. His Dart has the full front and rear suspension upgrades from RMS. Not to speak for him, but I believe he mentioned he is very pleased with the setup.

Lower Control Arm Doesnt go back in????

One piece strut rod bushings were available a few years back from ESPO (Springs and Things). Also Spicer Pro and Moog Professional series had an improved rubber strut rod bushing that is supposed to really last. When I rebuilt my 1969 340 Swinger in 2000, I used all rubber Moog Pro...

Use poly graphite bushings in the front sway bar and links, use Moog bushings in the strut rods, and the control arms (upper and lower). Use poly graphite bushings in the eyes of the rear leaf springs. You will notice a substantial improvement takign this route. Use Spicer Pro line...

sway bar on 6 cyl duster

Hey Dave--- Will Hellwig produce aftermarket bars for earlier Abodies (1968 - 72) equipped from the factory with a front sway bar, i.e. factory 340 equipped cars?

Whats better Manual steering or Power?

I'd take manual; My current Mopar is a 1971 340 Duster with numb power. The manual box weighs less, and of course with manual you lose the power steering pump, hoses and brackets. Overall you save some weight off the front of the engine and off the K member.

    70 Duster--conv. to 73-76 front disc??

There are many K-H equipped cars still on the road, and the prices are exactly what I quoted in the earlier post, $39.99 for Centric rotors. Summit is selling these rotors in slotted/drilled form for $79.99. Caliper parts are widely available. Stainless sleeves can be installed to solve any...

    70 Duster--conv. to 73-76 front disc??

All 1970 Duster 340s came with the Kelsey Hayes 4 piston disc brakes as standard equipment from the factory. My brother sold these cars new in 1970 and I purchased a new 1970 Duster 340. The 1970 Plymouth Duster sales brochure documents this well. So just to get this clear, this gentleman...

WTF with the 5 x 4 BC and getting axles?

I call BS on those saying that the SBP will not hold up. Many I have known, as well as myself, used SBP on 11 sec.ET cars with absolutely no problems. If you desire, you can put longer studs on the rear, otherwise you will be fine. More than anything the primary reason to move to the...
