Here is a cut plug from #2 cylinder. #2 and #3 seem to be the leanest with this combination of an Air-Gap with a 1" Wilson tapered 4 hole spacer.

Right on YR. Hopefully tomorrow or Monday I will get a chance to do a clean cut. As for the total timing, It is all in by 3000 and totals out at 32* I assume I need to cut the threads off the plug with a cut off wheel... I will do that tomorrow and post some pics from the plugs used today...

Just wanted to post an update my progress. Bumped up the timing 3* to 18* and re-jetted the front and rear. Went from a #70 down to a #68 on the front and a #76 down to a #73. Installed fresh plugs and verified float levels as the same when started. Vacuum was down and the plugs white after 2...

Made some progress this afternoon. Like YR and others have stated.. Hooked the vacuum gauge up to the manifold and checked it at cruising speed. Had close to 12hg. Went and purchased a 10.5pv and installed it after dinner. WoW it's much crisper than before and pulls hard. Tip in is crispy. Going...

Thanks for the additional info. Yes, they are fat further down... with stock QFT 650. I'll get a good tune in this with all the help on this thread. Thanks again.

Thanks... as I was unaware of that. My understanding is 1/2 the value is the PV value. 13hg equates to 6.5 and so forth...

I will put a vacuum gauge on it tonight and see what I have. I pull the PV and check to to see as well. I appreciate your input. Woodie.

Appreciate your input YR. Thank you. I can feel there's more in this combo. It's been a bit of effort to get it this far, I would like to take it all the way. This combo is great for the street.

Plugs have less than 25 miles on them. Fuel is 10% ethanol rated at 91 Octane. Street motor, but I rev it to 5800 all day long. I am thinking on a fresh set of plugs this week and do a good pass and kill the engine and pull a plug for a more accurate reading. I was, and I am curious what...

I have been reading up on how to tune by reading the plugs lately, Its seems as though this is a learning process that takes some time and understanding to be able to be accurate. I have read quite a few posts by YR as well as RRR and the other experienced posters on this form... These plugs are...

Spring Pressures. Solid roller lifter on a hyd roller cam.

Unfortunately I too am having trouble with a retro hydraulic roller lifter 340. Seems one is not holding pressure. Took all 16 out to clean and inspect, and found the suspect pair can be depressed very easily with a push rod.. while the rest seem extremely tight. I think I am going to roll the...

    Hydraulic Roller Lifter testing...?

Recently I acquired a 71 340 equipped with a hydraulic roller cam and Comp Cams retro fit juice rollers. One pair seems to be giving me some trouble with noise. I recently removed all the lifters and soaked them overnight in fresh mineral spirts/solvent. Using compressed air I blew them clean...

Stock 1972 340 intake and Thermoquad HP limits..?

Any guess what the factory cast iron intake and TQ would be capable of supporting power wise? Lets assume a true 10.5:1 .030 340... Big valve "J" heads and a SFT camshaft... There is a 69 valiant here waiting for a 340 swap from a 72 swinger, the owner plans on making some upgrades but wants to...

Crappy pic... Hard to tell if the port is stock. They look to be cleaned up, they fit a Felpro gasket like a glove.

How well do these heads flow in stock configuration? I scored a set today. I was thinking on using them on a 340 build with a solid roller.
