At one time I looked into a big block swap and buying the Schumacher mounts raises the engine up to help alleviate clearance issues. As far as manifolds go, using factory Abody big block manifolds work OR using the old school sweeping manifolds from a max wedge car work. And that's in a 67 and...

Id absolutely do that if it would work but it doesn't. The manifold goes down instead of back and it ends right into the power steering. Raising or lowering the engine may help or as talked about here, shaving the flange down would bring it closer to the block and head which may work or help or...

Autozone has them for 16 bucks a pop. What I'm curious about is whether or not the slant six rubber mounts are the same as the V8s? If so that woud save me a lot of cash.

Manual swap just isn't an option for me. This car has the original factory power steering that it was ordered with. How much of that 273 manifold can actually be hogged out before it gets dangerously thin? Also I'm trying to find some rubber mounts for my swap and I'm having a hard time with it...

Those are the ones I mentioned to you in a previous post. They don't carry the casting number you recommended though so I assume they are the small hole manifolds?

I did look at a few posts about this and it looks daunting to say the least and that's just making it fit a manual steering car. One member mentioned having to machine the flange down, putting shims under the motor mounts and cutting down steering collars and other such mods to the steering...

So your saying take material off the flange so it sits closer to the head/block? Was this on a power steering car?

Pishta, I looked into those before buying my 273 manifold and from the research I did that manifold goes right into the power steering box so the consensus was the 273 was the only thing that would fit since it curved back and not down into the box.

Pishta, Magnums as far as I know don't fit with power steering and are a tight fit even with manual it seems. Where can I get magnums for 50 bucks?

I would agree normally but with such a big difference and no other options to fix it outside of custom headers I'm not so sure. Now I know not EVERYONE to do this swap either already had manual steering or swapped to manual steering. What is everyone doing to fix this issue on the drivers side?

Ok so when switching to a 727 doesn't the tranny mount change at all? Does it mount further back for a 727? Or will it being mounted to a V8 push the transmission back far enough for it to line up with the original location?
