    8 3/4 spring/shock mount

I wouldnt even use those as the curve most likely will not seat right on the bottom of the springs and give you problems down the road. Plus the spring bolt aligns the shock plate where it needs to be, where the truck style you have wont align properly. Just find the correct style and you will...

    8.75 Carrier #

Its not the bearing size but rather the pinion shaft size. The 489 has a tapered shaft and the 742 has a straight one. If you ask any racers they will say the 742 is stronger due to the fact that a 489 tapered shaft has more weakness due to the taperedness. Both are very strong for the street.

Help Identifing what year 8 3/4 rear end???

As far as which year to order the hardware you dont need the exact year for that, you just have to know what size backing plate you have to get the correct fit shoes:ie 10" or 11". I have an A body 8 3/4 in my 69 Dart and I use later E/B body 11" x 2.5" brakes. When at the parts store just tell...

    727 Part Number

I looked up the part number you listed in Galens white books, and those books show no 273 with a 727 behind it in 66. Now in 65 a 273 had a 727 but that was police/taxi in the B-bodies. Look at the pan by the dip stick tube and see if it has an outward hump there-if so its a 727 and if its just...

    742? 741?

To answer your one question about putting the 742 pinion in the 741 case thats not going to work. You can swap just the suregrip cluster from all 3 housings but you need to keep the bearings with the cluster. I personally would look for a 742 or 489 if I was putting a big block in front of it...

    Help me identify my transmission

Please show us a pic of the front bearing retainer! As far as the bellhousings the top pic of the one that came with the Dart I believe it is for a small block and does have a starter "snout" as you put it, its just lower. The bottom pic clearly shows a bigger hole for the trans indicating an...
