    Extending valve cover baffle. Thoughs?

Mine did they same thing. I spent the money for a oil separator pcv system and haven’t had any issues since. But without it, the right breather would spit. I also have a very low vacuum engine as well. Should have put some more thought into it like you did and got it done on the cheap!

Where’s the new drag strip? They re-opened Mid-America in the fall of last year of you didn’t know (even further than Kansas International for you unfortunately). The have completely resurfaced the entire track, updated facilities, going to be a real nice place I think and definitely intend on...

    W2 408 build

Just read through this thread and great build! Love how stock looking everything is too. My engine builder was also a stock eliminator racer and held the title for several years so I can agree that those guys know how to get engines to make power. The W2 setup he put together for me has ran...

static and dynamic compression and pump gas

I’m betting you’re fine. Watch the timing and read the plugs. They will tell you how much timing the fuel can take with your combo.

static and dynamic compression and pump gas

Do you have aluminum or iron heads? That’s low enough DCR for either. 8:1 iron and 8.5:1 for aluminum is the rule of thumb. Seen some builds here get away with a bit more with aluminum heads.

Super victor intake and valve cover clearence

I believe the thick gaskets I use are Fel-Pro 1609. As gzip mentioned, I’d have machined the edges down if my intake wasn’t already powder coated. So my only option was thick gaskets.

Super victor intake and valve cover clearence

I had the same problem but with a Victor W2 and fabricated covers. I can’t recall off the top of my head who makes them but they are a double layer of cork material with metal webbing in between. It will raise the cover enough to clear. The only downside is that they tend to compress over time...

who is running MRL (BAM) Lifters without lifter bore sleeves

Yes it was a fresh build. Had oiling mods done in the block when I had it rebuilt. Oil pressure didn’t run that low before and the changes in the rebuild were lifters and the oiling mod. So one of the two caused the oil pressure to be lower at idle than before I suspect. When it’s cold, idle is...

who is running MRL (BAM) Lifters without lifter bore sleeves

Running the Pro Plus lifters. I have about 10-15 psi idling and increases with engine rpm. No issues yet.

A few questions about stroker small blocks

Another supporter here of the W2 head. They were on the car when I got it but when I had the engine rebuilt, had them ported and went through. Ended up with custom intake valves (couldn’t find what we needed off shelf) but that’s about it other than some push rod clearancing. After seeing every...

Power limits for LA small blocks?

Yep probably not a question that can be easily answered. Wish I had more miles on mine so I could give better feedback on longevity. Motor is probably right around 580-600 hp naturally aspirated and pulls my 3300 lb (race weight) Dart mid 10's in the 1/4. Don't have many miles on the motor yet...

Need help figuring out my dynamic compression.

Ah yes good catch! I didn't notice that was @.050. I was wondering why the dynamic came out so high when the static wasn't crazy high

Need help figuring out my dynamic compression.

Here's what I came up with using the Wallace Calculator Camshaft, Rod Length, Boost and Altitude Correction to Compression Static compression ratio of 11.65:1. Effective stroke is 3.39 inches. Your dynamic compression ratio is 10.03:1 . Your dynamic cranking pressure is 213.79 PSI. You'll need...

340 Rear Main Seal Install with Superformance Seal?

I understand that completely. We should never take everything we read here on these forums as gospel . We post up suggestions, experiences, etc and people can read and take from it what they want. You can throw in your input all day long and I think it's great to have the information out...

340 Rear Main Seal Install with Superformance Seal?

Oh please old wise one. Tell us more since you obviously think you are the master engine builder! Tell us how awesome you are! Go on! And by the way, I took that advice from a builder who was the national record holder for several years in stock eliminator class. He built his own engines and...

Sorry about that. Rear main is still holding up. Been to the track a couple times since. Only leak I had later was around a loose pan bolt.

Sure do. IIRC, they were 51cc when we first checked them and 53cc after builder did a little chamber work. Chad Speier did the port work on them

The great stroker discussion!! 4in or more

And one thing to think about too, your compression ratio is greatly increased when you put a 4" arm in there. So pay attention to the size of the combustion chambers in the heads you get and the cc's of the pistons. If you get a small chamber head, the CR will be really high with just a flat top...

Can't say I'm familiar with it. Sounds like a sweet car though! Drag radials! Street tires are awful. I run 325/50/15 MT ET Streets but looking to go up to their 30" radial.

The great stroker discussion!! 4in or more

I have to tend to agree with this. The 417 I currently have is a good running engine. Runs on 91 octane and will run 10's all day day long. Besides a low 8 second 3rd gen turbo Hemi Dart, I am the only one in my local group that has a small block and it's actually the fastest of our street cars...

Anyone make a true five quart small block oil pan?

With it being a rear sump it does not need the gates. So no it doesn't have gates. It does still have the same scraper that the others do.
