Tunnel ram or no tunnel ram...

I sure love mine, and can't believe the driveability! I have come to learn those that say they don't work well, or don't work well on the street, haven't run one, it is very obvious.

Running Main Bearing Inserts To use A 383 Journal Crank In a 440 Block

Smaller diameter = less bearing speed. Look at it like a merry-go-round, the people out at the ends are flying, the people in center are spining but not moving nearly as fast.

Tunnel ram or no tunnel ram...

I'm hoping it does also. The Pro Dominator is quite short in comparison to other tunnel rams, of course in my case, speaking of small blocks also. I swear I saw a photo where a guy had that setup, but darned if I can find it. I've measured carefully, it should fit.

    Engine oil accumulators

I am about to install my accumulator, so at this point I have no first hand working knowledge. Here is the understanding I have though. The volume of oil your accumulator holds must be accounted for in addition to your oil pan capacity. In the case of mine, the adapter goes between the oil...

Cam choice for low compression motorhome 440

Thanks for the response IQ52, I absolutely don't want to gamble with a retiree's money, especially a good friend, that is why I am seeking advise. This is a type of engine I am unfamiliar with, this is why I have approached the group. IQ52, might I ask what cam you would use in this...

Cam choice for low compression motorhome 440

For the sake of comparison, how does the Comp Cams Thumpr fair against the Hughes Whiplash? Being in Canada, a fair amount of money can be saved by buying from our local speed shop who is a Comp vendor. (Exchange on dollar adds big expense). My friend is a retiree and so when recommending...

Cam choice for low compression motorhome 440

In In truth, if a performance gain is to be had by the proper cam choice I'm sure he would take the idle with it. Lol, he always comments on the sound of my 408 which gas a definite cackle.

Cam choice for low compression motorhome 440

This is what I expected to hear, the tight LSA will also help the fact that we live at 3000ft elevation here. Thanks for the input, since it is a friends ride I don't want to make a bad choice for him.

Cam choice for low compression motorhome 440

I'm helping a friend with his 78 440 motorhome engine. This winter he has decided to do a cam swap. Since I have very little experience with 440's I though I'd seek advice from the group. He is looking for a nice boost in low to mid range torque, and would like a nice idle lope that isn't...

Again, use what you have. Magnum stuff is good and many people use it with great success. Personally I like the LA stuff.

budget street motor 360 or 383 for 71 duster

If you go big block do a 440, in my opinion the conversion required to go big block is not warranted for 23 cubes. 440 on the other hand is a whole other story....... I still would not rule out the 360, have you seen what a decent 360 will do? Enthusiasts often get into the mindset of...

budget street motor 360 or 383 for 71 duster

In my humble opinion I would use the 360 and here is why: You already have it Some degree of weight advantage depending on aluminum heads etc. More room in engine compartment No additional parts needed, ie mounts, driveline stuff Horsepower goals could be easily met using good heads...
