Yeah that looks like a nice kit!
The 2 kits I'm looking at are the universal Mcleod kit ($500ish) sold by brewers and a few other places and the American Powertrains ($670ish) kit. The A.P. kit uses a dowel rod to locate the slave cylinder and also uses their adjustable clutch master cylinder mount. It also comes with the shims...
Both Passon and Brewers sell restored 72-up non-console shifters but neither sell a new option. There are a few generic options but not a specific one. The Hurst website brings back 'We couldn't find what you're looking for'. The shifterdoc website is a bit chaotic but and I didn't see it there...
I tested the starter the way it was and it turns over the engine without issue! With the 'cup' on the nose of the starter it's distance is set from the flywheel. Here is a video of it turning over and of the 'slop' issue.
Is this how the starter is supposed to mount in the Lakewood bellhousing? There is a bunch of slop in it. It's distance from the flywheel seems to be set by the 'cup' bolted inside the bellhousing but it can rotate almost a 1/4" with the bolt hole slop. Thanks in advance.
Thank you!
Maybe? I got it as is from a swap meet a couple years ago. The guy was trying to sell it as a big block bellhousing so he clearly had no idea.
Is anyone using a hydraulic slave cylinder on there A833 4speed. I'm converting from an automatic and with the steep price of buying every little part brand new it got me thinking why now just fab up a slave cylinder mount use some inexpensive universal hotrod parts to make it happen. I'd love...
Right, which is why I'm only looking at the other parts. I have a later 833 lined, so that's not the issue. I'm interested in the clutch fork, Z rod, linkage, shifter, etc. Anyone know if this stuff is the same as the later cars?
I have the opportunity to buy all the 4-speed parts, minus trans, bellhousing and pedals from a 65 Barracuda. Will the rest of the parts fit in my 72 Dart?
