I used "Satin Black" from Totally Auto. Great paint, actually PPG automotive paint, but crazy expensive... $24.95 a can ! :roll:

I used "Satin Black" from Totally Auto on my '73 Duster dash frame. The paint went on very well and dried quickly.

It looks like abodyjoe used a spacer while mopardrt didn't. Does this have something to do the column shifter vs. the floor shifter?

I had to remove the windshield and gasket on my '73 Duster to access five screws that were attaching my dash frame in. There is an attachment under each kick panel too. You might think about sending your dash frame out, as it has the VIN tag attached. If the frame gets ripped off or lost...

Remove the dash frame, sand as you would any bodywork, prime, sand and paint. I used rattle-can paint from Totally Auto to get the factory black color. Outstanding paint BTW! Here is a link with some images for my dash if your interested... http://www.dilley340.com/id27.html
