What year Dakota manifolds to use?

threre's a couple of threads already on this if I remember the results correctly the drivers side had some issues with 340 and magnum manifolds the clearances are so tight that one fellow had to do some grinding and another guy got a set of magnums in without major frigging I do seem to...

    Have no idea on manifolds???

I could be wrong but I think that you will find that that center dump manifold will cause a problem clearing the k member or that you will wind up with an interesting bend on the pipe exiting the manifold. I spent a bunch of time researching the best choices, good luck.

    Have no idea on manifolds???

check this out http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/exhaust/9.html theres some posts also on this issue for the most part if you have p/s the drivers magnum manifold won't fit without a lot of grinding and frigging, non p/s seems to be ok even on the earlier a's magnum passenger fit is easy...

Worth it to put headers on a 318?

Ive seen several dyno tests on mild 318's with headers, 20 hp is probably the most you will gain with headers on a mild 318 which is barely enough for the seat of the pants feel and only 2/10 in the quarter as yy1 said is the headache, price, and frig factor worth it a set that is a great fit...

    dynomax super turbos

been listening to sound clips, comments from here and my buds etc....I'm thinking of the dynomax VT's now looks like they are around 80 each the reviews said that the "flapper valve" would jingle and noisy at idle, the dynomax tech I called said that they would do that unless you had an x or...

I sent the tech line a msg on the bad reviews on the variable tone new dynomaxes where the flapper valve inside the muffler was noisy....this is their response......... Thank you for your inquiry for Dynomax Exhaust. We appreciate your interest in our products. The valve in the VT muffler...

    340 HP's vs headers

As I understand it large tube headers can hurt bottom end torque on a milder "STReet" ENgine by reducing back pressure too much.A friend of mine years ago had put the largest diameter headers he could find on his 273/235 NHRA stock automatic car and realized minimal gains, He swapped them for a...

    340 HP's vs headers

I was in the same sit as you with a warmed over 360 MAgnum, Dyno tests have shown 20-25 horsepower where headers are put on a pretty much stock 340 the better headers (tti) had about 5 horsepower over cheaper ones. Your 318 build will not garner as much horsepower as the 340. The stock 340...

What headers for 318 magnum in an A-body?

I have heard guys who say that the one tube that hangs low on this install that they measured the distance between the header and the road and it was only 4 inches off the pavement. The only real solution is to build a "skid plate" like the ones on 4wd trucks. The problem has become so bad...

Magnum Exhaust Manifolds in an A Body

Heres the dyno tests on the manifolds http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/exhaust/9.html As you can see there isnt much of a difference between the magnum and 340 manifolds. I cant find it again but I saw a chasis dyno test on a 340 in a Duster which had mild "plus" engine and there was only...

Magnum Exhaust Manifolds in an A Body

I also did a 340 manifold on the drivers side and Dakota RT 92 big outlet passenger which worked out very well. Also by coincidence and luck the manifolds have very close to the same flow rates as evidenced by dyno tests which I am looking for and will post the address if I can find it again.

    Best exhaust manifolds???

Check the exhaust forum for Dakota manifolds in an early A I saw a post a while back where somebody put magnum maniflods in an early A without p/s. See dyno results for 340 maniflods here: http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/exhaust/9.html

Pypes A body exhaust or Summit Which one should I choose?

230 bucks is hard to beat for a complete exhaust system! Even tho it comes with the "turbo" mufflers maybe they will do a susbtitution for "better" mufflers. I went with Patriot sidepipes but if I hadn't it would have been the Summit complete dual system.

Magnum Exhaust Manifolds in an A Body

Man I am sooooooo jealous if your success, I tried to get them in my 70 and was prepared to do whatever mods necessary but it won't happen in my 70 with p/s, I had considered cutting them and rewelding them to make them fit with the p/s but gave up it was just too much, Good job...

    Trap Door Inside Exaust Manifold

The exhaust pressure is what opens the valve. At idle it's almost completely closed and opens progressively more as your exhaust flow increases. At idle it's almost closed causing the hot gases to remain partially trapped in the exhaust crossover in the intake manifold thereby warming the area...

    Trap Door Inside Exaust Manifold

I'm not sure where Modesto is north or south but if it gets really cold there in the winter you might consider wiring it open to experiment to see if you can live without it on cold start ups. If you need it you can always take the wire holding it open off. If you remove it completely and find...
