With all the $$ u spend/parts u`ve bought , and diff. projects and cars/trucks u have posted about , I thot u were somewhat of a hi roller !
Maybe hi troller ,---------LOL
Twere it me , I`d make sure the gasket /heads/intake ports are perfectly lined up ,and elongate the bolt holes , then recheck how they line up and adjust it as needed , .030 aint much to over size a hole , it would only be .015 on each side the ports are the most important !
I check every...
Not trying to horn in here , but I caught 2 boots burning before any shorting out and wrapped them w/ some left over header wrap , has worked so far ----------
No dirt roads or rain driving , I haven` t ran a 727 dust cover since 1968 . Two 426 hemis ,two 406 sbc , and now a a 440/505 . I think it helps the convertor to run a little cooler
I haven`t followed this thread closely , but the first thing I would do is find out how to degree a cam ,and definitely get rid of that alum. gear . timing chain slop only retards ur timing
the amount the cam will move w/o the crank moving = bad.
After GOING BACK TO THE PICS, IT LOOKS TO ME...
TALK ABOUT FREE REVING. I GOT A BUDDIE THAT USED TO RACE S/STOCK / NHRA , HE WOULD SIDE STEP THE CLUTCH AT 8600-9600
IN A SBC, I WOULD GRIMMACE EVERY TIME HE PULLED UP TO THE LINE !! Guess he knew what he was doing, he held his record 18 times over the years !
^^^^^^^^^ and , if u do it w/ head gaskets , ur going to lose ur quench, making the engine need higher octane ----
Ur duration has a lot to do with the timing events in the engine too , like rrr said , tear it down , unless u got the cam timing way the heck off !
If u run tubes, and get it hooked up, w/ a lot of h.p. , u better screw them too . The tires will turn and tear the valvestem out of the tube. Ask me how I know !!
YEAH, THAT TURNS ME TO CRAP TOO, WHY BOTHER TO TYPE IT !!!!
Just plain DAM would get the meaning across and be just as effective --------
They should apply that to movies too !
If both are "hooked up" and built alike, the bigger motor hands down, if the 440 is spinning , the 340 will kick its a$$, have less cooling problems , maintenance problems, and handle better .
Which one is more impressive --------------?

plus , u might need more oil for other losses thru out the system. I would put a long 3/8" pipe nipple in the block , to get a good idea of the correct angle to drill it out for a 1/2" pick up, if running a...
