The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

Wow, it's been a long journey....7 1/2 years. Along the way I changed careers, bought a house, and got married to a wonderful woman who encourages my car hobby! And I'm still not 100% done yet. I have an A/C kit that needs to be installed, soundproofing that needs to go under the carpet and rear...

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

Update. Almost a year has gone by, got married, have not driven the Dart since early September. It was time to dig it out of mothballs and freshen it up. I changed the oil, and started it up with a single twist of the key (I love the EZ-EFI!). I decided it was time to add the wheels I wanted all...

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

Recent changes and refinements to my car, I installed a flex fan to solve my overheating issues, I installed a pair of Magnaflow mufflers in place of the old Thrush welded, and yesterday I took apart the doors to get rid of as many rattles as I can, and to get the drivers door to seal to the...

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

The EZ EFI kit was easy to instal, except for those bastard push lok fittings, if I had to do it again, I would just order the basic kit, fuel pump kit, and stainless braided lines. I probably spent about 12 hrs installing the kit, about 8hrs was spent on running fuel lines (A-bodies are...

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

Well, I have had opportunity to drive the car some, the brakes sucked (or more appropriately, didn't). I had no business running power brakes on an engine that only pulls 7" vacuum at 950 rpm idle, which made for some scary stops, I played around with a new modern aluminum master cylinder, but I...

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

Well, it's been a while since I posted, but progress is slowly happening, right now a kitchen remodel is taking up my time. The Dart will be on the road this spring, just need to reinstall the interior and get insurance.

    Nite Moves 67 Dart Restore

Most parts interchange with 68/69, but you need to be careful with all the exterior shiney trim, 67 was a one year car for trim, don't lose or damage window trim, or you grille and headlight buckets, very hard to find.

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

Had a few bugs/issues, Fixed a baffle in the V/C that hit the rockers, fixed a water leak, fixed the fuel pump (installed a diagphram backwards), still have a header leak, the thermostat does not seem to be opening, or I have a massive air bubble I have to burp (I put my finger in the water in...

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

Today was the day to get the Dart fired up! This morning my buddy came over and we decided to get er done. But the day ended up with a partial victory. First thing we did was make sure all the fluids were topped off, then o realized I did not have enough hose clamps, so a trip to Pep Boys. Got...

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

I am getting ready to fire it up, tested the starter, engine turns over. Filled all the fluids. Pressurized the oiling system, dumped a quart on the ground, spead oil dry. DOH! Replaced master cylinder, old one was frozen, no fluid coming out, new one only cost $18.99...

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

Have not been able to do much the past week, I did manage to get the Demon carb rebuilt and setup, and got the Lokar throttle and trans cables setup and cut to length, but otherwise not much progress, I did take a little time off around Christmas week, so I am going to put that toward the Dart.

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

I got the electrical system tested sat night, I have a few small problems, but it mostly works, just have some issues with the high beams, need to figure it out, could be a bad relay. Also, did a dummy move, bolted the starter solenoid wire to the case and not the right terminal, duh! Guess its...

I have 325/50 tires, at 28" tall, you don't need to move the rear back. For 30" tires, you need to move the rear back, but you can't keep the stock fuel tank. I never cut the wheelwells.

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

It looks like it won't happen this weekend, I called today, and they still have not shipped the distributor. I guess I'll spend the weekend doing other stuff, I am going to get everything ready so I only have to drop the dist in and turn the key.

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

Underhood is wired, dash is wired (except for one molex for the gauges), the only thing keeping me from starting it is a few parts I ordered, hopefully, the dipstick tube and distributor will be here before the weekend. I also made a deal for a set of 17" front and rear wheels that I should have...

No, the sensor is located in the X, reads both banks, but honestly, it does not matter if you have a single plane open plenum intake.

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

I forgot to mention, no but connectors anywhere, no crimps, everything is soldered. I am determined to make a 100% reliable electrical system in a Mopar. I never again want to be stranded somewhere because of a gremlin.
