before attempting to poke through the rust, I was thinking the same about the wheel cylinder. But I cant find my key to my wheel locks ANYWHERE... I always keep the keys in the top of my toolbox, but wasnt there now. But I am gladthat I found the problem

If only I would have read this yesterday...that does make sense though to pack them with a little grease. I did repace them with 4 new bleeders though. Next time I will be sure to remember that little tip about keeping the elements OUT of my brakes..

Right after posting this yesterday, before anyone had replied, I thought to myself that it may be plugged up, so I made myself a little 'shank' out of a wire coat hanger. The wire pushed right through and fluid started flowing! After that, the rest of the bleeding took maybe a half hour or so...

Bump.. do I need anything else to get the system hooked up the correct way?

okay, I will do that. But should I worry about the bent tip on the push rod? And do I need any thing else other than the rod and bushing between the pedal and the master cylinder?

So am I just supposed to have the brake pedal, which is connected to the push rod, which just goes directly into the master cylinder? Because the pressure in the master should automatically 'reset' the pedal back to an up position, and should not need a spring in order to do that correct?

there IS some rigging going on? my setup is manual 4 wheel drum..

The guy that I bought my dart from had definitely done some shady things. But jerry rigging the brakes??? This is the most dangerous thing that I have found that they did screwey. After replacing all brake lines(all rubber and steel), I went to bleed the system and it was not working. Wasnt...

I ended up being able to just stomp it back into place. no need to even open up a bleeder

thats what I was thinking..wasn't sure if that made sense though..we'll see if it turns back on. seems like this whole thread would be a waste if problem is fixed now.. i learned quite a bit though about prop valve and stuff..

so i was all set to spend all day tomorrow working on the satellites brakes, and when i started up the car today, no brake light on! soo did it fix itself? or did the switch go out? brakes seem to be working great still...

well thats too bad. but like you said before. you should be able to tell if your brakes aren't working.. I started this thread http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=85164 the tip to just stomp on the brake pedal a few times seemed to fix my problem. light is off now..

oh alright. thanks..will update thread once i bleed it.. and I don't believe so. I actually was planning on power flushing the entire system, so when I went in for the power flush, I brought a new master cylinder with me, and had them instlall that as well. So I just had the shop do the power...

i'm confused..The light has been on since I bought the car. It just turned off today randomly when I started up the car leaving work. it stayed off for about 10 mins. and then turned right back on..still haven't had the time to try bleeding it to reset the prop valve..i need to do that asap though

thanks for that clarification. I don't think that this is my problem now, but it should help out future readers like you said.. and as far as the parking brake, i'm not too worried about that light turning on for the park brake. I know when its in and when it isn't. thanks for looking into that...

it was unclear in caferacerx's post though as to which one to start on. I start on one of the rear ones, and them move to one of the front ones?

when i disconnected the ground from the prop valve, the light turned off! so this definitely means that my problem is the prop valve? also though, with the wire from the prop valve unplugged, when i put on the emergency brake, the light doesn't turn on. what does this mean?

well my dad drove my satellite today, and said that the pedal isn't "creeping" at all and that its fine.. so i'm on my way outside with a flashlight right now to disconnect that wire and see what happens.. i'd rather replace the master than the prop valve probably. but we'll see..

Is the wire on the prop. valve the ground right? so if i take that off, and the light turns off, then I know that the prop valve is my problem? or is that incorrecct?

can the 2nd piston be bad already?! i just bought this master..its remanufactured..

jsut tried that. did it probably about 20 times..every like 3rd time, the light would turn off for a second, then turn right back on..what does this mean??!
