    who has the fastest 318 ?! ( OUT ) 410 stroker ( IN! )

is it one of those electric water pumps with the separate motor mounted to the side of the motor? If it is, I would be seriously hesitant about trying to put more work on it's plate. Increasing the rpm of the pump is going to put more load on the electric motor driving it and IF that motor...

Dart vs 1000hp Supra heads up.

I had similar thoughts in that It would be nice to beat him "fair and square" ie by trying to be faster as opposed to making the other guy slower. but when the odds are stacked against you then it's reasonable to try to take advantage of the situation any way possible, especially for $500...

Dart vs 1000hp Supra heads up.

Some good info on nitro. Sounds like it's a pretty risky option to me, might be expensive too? http://onehotchilipepper.com/nitro/ (I assume it's good info, I skimmed over it but it all seems a bit beyond my comprehension)

    who has the fastest 318 ?! ( OUT ) 410 stroker ( IN! )

If you're still looking at getting a high lift regrind done on your camshaft, be aware that adding lift can only be achieved by removing material from the base circle diameter. If the material removed is substantial you will need to compensate with longer pushrods, the process of checking the...

Dart vs 1000hp Supra heads up.

Your setup and driving sounds more consistent, so I'd say you're in with a good chance at shutting him down. especially with it being over the 1/8th where all the agony happens.

    who has the fastest 318 ?! ( OUT ) 410 stroker ( IN! )

I think the small cam and high compression are going to cause detonation problems unless you can get yourself some better fuel. Thick head gaskets might help, but that's gonna cost you a few dollars which might be better spend on getting your heads setup for a more suitable cam and springs...

My first time out. what next?

Cheers, I just kept the timing the same as what was setup for optimum with my last cam when it was broken in on the dyno. It was a bit smaller at 227/241 on 108 (and it was hydraulic) Would it likely be worth getting the distributor curve reset again for more initial with similar total? With...

My first time out. what next?

Thanks guys. I am looking into getting a converter built by Dominator here in Australia. will also proceed with cutout plates behind the collectors and then a twin 2.5" system for the street. If funds permit, I'm going to get a drag rear end put together with 27 inch drag radials. I'd like to...

Help me get into the 12's for cheap

You wanna go from 14.8 to 12.99 in a full weight car with 3.55 gears? and no nitrous? There's no way around it, it's going to cost you more than $2000. Way more. This centrifugal supercharger kit and a good torque converter will get you there and that is probably going to be your cheapest...

My first time out. what next?

Back in December I took my 67 valiant to the strip for our local "Mopar Nationals", one of my mates has a very nice 383 duster and we naturally ended up razzing each other about who's going to be faster on the day. His 383 duster or my 318 valiant. (a nice little underdog story) The event was...

    1969 Dart GT 440 vs. 2010 Camaro SS/RS

If he lined up thinking your 440 dart didn't have potential to walk him, he's a very slow learner. Heck, I've lined up next to Aussie LS3 commodores on the street and walked them with my 318. :D Horsepower is one thing, but weight, gears and stall is nearly everything.

Max Lobe Ramp For Solid Flat

Hmm. High compression pressure at any given operating RPM = good performance high/low compression pressure at cranking RPM = good diagnostic information However "dynamic" means CONSTANTLY CHANGING Without than changing camshafts, VE will always dictate DCR. More volumetric efficiency = more...

Max Lobe Ramp For Solid Flat

Agreed, obviously measuring cranking pressure is not a good way to estimate the power output of an engine. I was just trying to point out that if you have two motors. the one which has LESS cylinder pressure at cranking speeds *may* actually have MORE pressure at high RPM due to inertia...

Max Lobe Ramp For Solid Flat

If both of these motors are purpose build race motors running in the same class with the same rules. my money is on the 130PSI motor every time! as an engine increases RPM it's volumetric efficiency goes up. this is because air is somewhat "stretchy". At low speeds induction air is difficult...

Max Lobe Ramp For Solid Flat

Performance trends has a program called "Engine Analyzer PRO" which has a theoretical minimum tappet diameter calculator that seems to be consistent (+ or - .001") with lobe grinds from several different cam manufacturers catalogues. It takes into consideration the following. Duration at any...

    Internet vs reality

Is this thread about the "disrespect" you get for owning and loving your chevelle? Sometimes this kinda mentality is really bizarre. Owning a Mopar and a Chevelle = traitor? Owning a Mopar and a Daewoo = perfectly acceptable?

I have no idea what kinda conflict went on to inspire this thread but....here's my take on internet versus reality? I hate doing things twice, it's better to learn from someone else's mistake. Whether it be bad or good, the internet is a resource for advice and information. Mopar experts are...

13's on a stock cam that's awesome! Seth the more I look at your combo the more it seems like a freak of nature. If your 215 tire can hook to run 13.8 then My 235 tire might have a fair chance too. These are top stuff, really motivating. Keep them coming guys! :blob: I just looked up and...

Thanks guys. I know a 318 isn't a 340 but mine's specifically identical or superior to a factory 340 in every way except the bore diameter. I have purchased some custom 4-into-1 headers that are 1-3/4 down to a 3" collector but they go underneath the draglink which is a concern for ground...
