I went with manifolds, and a TTI 2.5 inch exhaust. The fit on the driver's side is tight, but doesn't hit. I did need to cut a 5/8 wrench to tighten the bolts. The other concern is sound. Smaller pipes IMO sound like pea shooters.

If you still have the exhaust manifolds, TTI has a really nice 2 1/2 inch exhaust system. I think they have the header style system too. Not cheap.

I run the TTI 21/2 from the manifold back. Stock is 2 1/4. The fit is very tight around the starter. Mufflers are Dynomax turbo. Only car I own where you can have a conversation.

Was at the cruise spot Thursday. Watched some chevy guy with turn downs blowing dirt all over everyone's car. You could see the cloud it kicked up. Put some tailpipes on it first. Then decide on mufflers.

How about some zoomies? Remember those? The four pipes that come out in front of the rear wheels. Like the Mad Max Falcon. I had them on my first 64 Sport Fury. Almost went deaf. Took them back off. Same with a truck i had with the exhaust dumping in front of the rear tire. Couldn't take the racket.

With your car, you will have to build your own system. Headers can have different lengths to the end of the collector . You probably have a driveshaft loop (hopefully). A Dana is larger, and has a different shape. Then there's the rear suspension. If you do turn downs before the rear, it will...

If you cut off the cats, Don't throw them away. They are valuable enough that tweakers will crawl up under people's trucks, and cut them out.

Doesn't someone make the taller motor mounts for small blocks? Maybe from a pickup? Or is that just for big blocks?

The only head pipes I could find were TTI. This is my 69 Dart. I have a 2 1/2 inch system. I went ahead and bought the whole kit.

Don't use those crappy aluminum gaskets, unless you want to do the same thing twice. I use Fel pro header gaskets.

Who makes an exhaust system for a 69 Dart 340 with manifolds? I can find plenty of systems for cars with headers, but only TTI, and Accurate for manifolds. I can't take the car to a local shop, since it doesn't run yet, and I'm not comfortable starting a fresh engine with just manifolds. Just...

Out the back. In front of the wheel will make you deaf, and behind it will rust your quarters.

Try roll bar padding, or make it a swing out bar.

Had a buddy in high school with a Corvair and he wanted side pipes. So he bought some flex pipe and ran it from the rear engine up the rocker of the car with a turnout right behind the front wheel just like you want to do. Nearly killed us from exhaust fumes. Cops made him take them off. LOL...

I have been looking for an exhaust for my 69 Dart, and the one I like best, and is cheapest is the TTI setup. Magnaflow and Dynomax don't make a kit for Mopars. Accurate is more expensive, and looks more restrictive, and Gardner only makes B&E bodies. I guess we aren't worthy...........

Who makes a nice 2 1/2" exhaust for our A bodies? I want to do this right the first time, but I want it to look close to stock.

I have Hedmans on my 64 Sport Fury. They needed a couple minor dings, but otherwise fit well, and I have power steering. I have heard a lot of bad input about Hookers.
