    Engine Crane Boom Upgrade

I agree. I had to put a lot of weight on the back ((150?) because the back casters were lifting when I lifted the engine. I would like to have a cherry picker that wouldn’t require that. I’ve been looking at the gantry crane at Horrible Freight and pondering building my own with I-beams I have...

    Engine Crane Boom Upgrade

I’ve had to do the same and used 45 lb weights on the back of the hoist to act as a counterbalance. My problem was the hydraulic cylinder hitting the headed panel on my cuda before getting the chain and hook over the carburetor hole lift plate.

Lets hear your suggestions for a winch for a car trailer.

Looks like the winch mount is only for the 12000 lb but you could probabaly adapt it to a smaller one 12,000 lb. Winch Hitch Mount Wireless remote options: Wireless Winch Remote Control and Wireless Winch Remote Winches I am considering: 9500 lb. Truck/SUV Winch with Wire Rope and 12,000 lb...

Lets hear your suggestions for a winch for a car trailer.

I was just looking at the Horrible Freight winches on Saturday. They have mounting plates and brackets that make it easy to mount and/or move. One mounting solution has a hitch receiver solution. They have a 9500 lb and a 12000 lb truck winch. I would stay away from a UTV winch. We use those at...

Where to put the air compressor?

I was thinking about doing this but I just bought a super quiet air compressor. You could just level the dirt and use pea gravel or pavers so you don't have to pour concrete. Shed: https://www.amazon.com/Patiowell-Outdoor-Storage-Lockable-Backyard/dp/B0BP952Q7N/?tag=fabo03-20 Sound...

    Toolbox replacement time. Suggestions?

I like my Husky. I bought it on a sale and it was already marked down. To make things sweeter I was able to use a military discount. My usage is the same as the op. Weekend usage. Mine has the power strip inside the box and I do use that everyday to charge the Milwaukee battery for the cordless...

    Green House

This is what we do. $24 each. We will be putting 6 mil over it in the late fall and take it off about Valentine's Day. The panels cover a 8x16 raised bed. The pic is not ours but where we got the idea. It's super thrifty and is not hard to set up. Some day I would like to build my wife a glass...

We’re sleeping at Wawona Campground right off 41. We have been putting in 16 hour days in a grove of giant trees. I’m in a strike team of engines (5 Type 3 wildland fire engines). We’ll definitely be here for our full 14 days. I would love to swing by but the 24 other guys will want to push...

Got to love those new tool boxes

Question for the Harbor Freight tool box crowd: Are these boxes rat proof? I have an old 3 piece stacker Craftsman box and I've got a rat that has moved into the bottom box. It has a little opening in the back that he is getting in. I have to unload it and turn it on end to seal the openings...

Opinions, sources, LED conversion 2-D cell Maglite bulbs?

Junk the mag lite and buy literally anything else. Sure fire and Streamlight are too brands but you can pretty much pick anything LED up that will outperform a Maglite with out without an LED conversion. The only thing they’re really good for is clubbing someone over the head.

Engine Test Stand from Scrap and Junk

A friend, his son, and myself turned this … Into this… It was as a Smith machine (squat rack) that was at my fire stations gym. None of us are fond of Smith machines. Free squats are actually safer. I new exactly what the metal was going to be used for before I even disassembled it. We used...

    Post up your Toolbox stickers

I bought a few of the originals of the 360/340 Only stickers a few years ago to put on my tool box but they were too cool to peel and stick so I had these made up without the original shops name to clean it up a bit. I had to order 100 of them just to get them produced. Only wanted a few. If...

Just googled it and they are made in Murphy, North Carolina. Been trying real hard to not buy anything made in China. I don't care where else, just not Chyna. The best way to tell if you have you’re rakers down far enough is your chips curl. Analyze the chips (sawdust) after cutting a piece. They should look like curly-ques. If it is fine sawdust you may need to sharpen the cutters but if the chips still aren’t curls and still sawdusty you may need to...
