    H or X CROSSOVER?

X pipe should be quieter, though the mufflers you choose are worth something here as well. If you use the turndowns instead of extending the tips past the bumper, it will drone a lot more. My Duster has the 2.5" TTI x-pipe system and the Dynomax Ultra-Flos. I would imagine the super turbos are...

Trying to Eliminate Drone. Need Another Opinion.

I still think you need to lop off the turndowns and stick the exhaust about 1/2" past the bumper first. I have the same system (but with long tubes), and it droned/drummed under the car like crazy with the turndowns. I went with some stainless tips that stick out past the bumper and it helped a...

    Muffler opinion

Sounds like dynomax ultra-flos. Awesome mufflers.

    tti exhaust muffler selection

The X-pipe would have made it quieter. I have the short ultra-flos and it's pretty quiet while cruising. Can have a normal conversation in the car with the windows down at 70 which is about 3k rpm. There is a resonant rpm, but it's a pretty narrow band around 2k, but even that isn't too...

    Dynomax Ultraflow mufflers..

I have the ultra flos as well now (the welded ones). I like it, sounds good, not all that loud in the car honestly.

    TTI Exhaust with offset shackles?

Thanks, I'm thinking my car has a little less rear ride height. I should probably just go with 2.5" and the x pipes...and Ultra-Flos.

    TTI Exhaust with offset shackles?

All, I found that my side exit exhaust doesn't jive to well with my subframe connectors and the Hotchkis rear sway bar - so I'm looking to replace the exhaust. I have the MP offset shackle setup on the car. The engine makes 470hp and 455 lb-ft at the crank, so I'm torn between 2.5" and 3"...

    tti headers

I have the 1 5/8-1 3/4 step headers and they fit pretty well. One thing you may run into is having to buy TTI's Z-bar. I had to. Otherwise it rubs on the tubes. Use a straight filter adapter with the short filter.

X & H pipe vs straight dual exhaust

The pipe would have to be HUGE. a single pipe would have to be 4.25" to have the same cross sectional area as dual 3". Hard to tuck that under the car. It likely doesn't have quite the same scavenging effect either.

X & H pipe vs straight dual exhaust

The pipe is 2.5", then at the X its 3 1/2" wide by 2.5" tall in an oval shape. So, its about 7.5 sq in area vs a 2.5" pipe of 4.9 sq in. Theoretically, there shouldn't even be exhaust pulses hitting the X at the same time, so chances are it's not really restricting anything. Most X pipes I've...

X & H pipe vs straight dual exhaust

I bought the summit x-pipe kit and made my own x-pipe. Since the TTIs don't come out straight, I had to buy some 30 degree mandrel bends, but other than that it wasn't too difficult. I welded mine together. I used to have just plain duals but I changed my engine at the same time. I do have to...

    340 mufler choice

I love the dynomax super turbos myself. Not loud if you're not standing on it...and I have side exit exhaust.

    muffler choices

I too love the super turbos...I used a special version to get out the side exhaust and still have the mufflers in the stock location. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DylKXYZ-oUc&feature=related I wish I had a sound clip of what it sounds like with a load on it. And they're pretty quiet, really.

    Muffler recommendations

I have dynomax super turbos as well. quiet enough on the inside that you can stand being in it even with the windows open and side exit exhaust. They're still loud enough and sound awesome at WOT with a load on them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DylKXYZ-oUc

    Talked to Harold at Spitfire

I hope he sticks with a good practice like that. I bought some of his headers in 2002, and had to wait for 'em but they certainly fit good.

Hooker to Magnum head problem! HELP PLEASE!

I have Spitfires that have been on my duster with 3 different sets of heads...#675's (70 318), #302's(89 318), and some mid 90's magnum heads. The bolt holes lined up perfectly on all of them. The exhaust pattern is the same. There must be something wierd with those hooker headers...you sure...

    DynoMax Bullet Mufflers

I know they're not bullet mufflers, but I have the Dynomax Super Turbos. Mine might have the inlet and exit on the same end but I think the others still sound the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DylKXYZ-oUc They really aren't terribly loud even with side exit. if you had rear exit...

    Side exit exhaust

They're Dynomax Super Turbo #17676, which are 2 1/2". For some reason they also outflow the more standard offset in/center out muffler they make in the same size...Says 520cfm on their website. They're also $61.95 ea. Its hard to see but I'm holding them up in the back in order to not crack...

    Side exit exhaust

It certainly is legal. The AAR and T/A cars would not be legal to drive in this state otherwise. I looked up the vehicle code and it is as follows: 175.75. EXHAUST SYSTEMS. (a) Condition of Exhaust System - All components of the exhaust system shall be in safe operating condition as described...

    Side exit exhaust

my mufflers pretty much are T/A or AAR style... Here's the finished product and finally, CRANK IT UP! (I think my floats are still set too high...the rears were real high and fuel was dribbling out of the boosters at idle, so now I need to change the oil) It sounds a lot better than it...

    Side exit exhaust

Here's some mockup pictures. The front of the muffler will sit a bit higher than that as I'm using a small piece of pipe to hold it up to the stock exhaust. I would rather have the tips exit a bit further back but Its not too bad. I need to stop by the part stores and get some adapters to get it...

    Side exit exhaust

they're Dynomax 17676. I actually looked up the flow numbers on Dynomax's website and they flow more than the standard type muffler by about 100 cfm. Seems strange. They also make the 17675 that is 2 1/4". The 120 degree mandrel bends are Hedman 12081 Everything but the tips will be here...

    Side exit exhaust

I bought some "same side exit" mufflers that should be here from summit by friday. They're Dynomax Super Turbo in 2.5" for a decent price (61.95 ea). My exhaust is only 2" up till the mufflers right now and these are bigger...I will have to adapt...I also bought some 120 degree mandrel bends...

    70 dart manifolds

those are '72 340 HP manifolds. They're probably OK, but at least the passenger side is a different style than the 70 HP. Probably not as good. You'd need to find out if they know if those work with the 72 340 manifolds.
