Thats what it looks like to me, or the guy bent the pipe to close on the muffler side and stuck the bend in it and clamped it... Where the pipe was bent that area will become smaller unless it's a mandrel bend... I always weld my exhaust pipes instead of using the clamps..

I'd go with the X-pipe, I think Chrysler only got 10-hp out of the cross over pipe that came factory on the HP big block b-bodys...
