    Superbowl ad with '65 Barracuda

Are those bumper guards original? I only saw that appallingly offensive Bruce Springsteen / Jeep commercial....now I can't stand Jeeps, too.

Rarity (and desirability) of a slant six/ factory 4 speed?

I'm not disagreeing, just saying there's no free lunch. Except....more gears lol The Challengers have pretty tall tires so that helps make the rear gear less severe.

Rarity (and desirability) of a slant six/ factory 4 speed?

I could be wrong, lol. The big problem with 3.09 first gears is....you pay for it when you hit 2nd gear, or some other gear, as the drop is big. My 2015 Challenger SRT had a 6 speed with wide ratios and a 3.92 axle. You could drive anywhere with just gears 1-3-5. And 6th gear was .50 which...

Rarity (and desirability) of a slant six/ factory 4 speed?

It wouldn't have a 3.09 if it was the original gearbox

Rarity (and desirability) of a slant six/ factory 4 speed?

1992...I had a white '68 Valiant 100. 170, 3 on the tree. I converted it to an OD 4 speed. Had an 8-3/4" rear end, I tried 2.76. 2.94, 3.23's. I don't remember which gears were best for MPG but I could get 29MPG reliably (highway) and at times crack 30MPG. That was checking MPG using the...

Rarity (and desirability) of a slant six/ factory 4 speed?

"That said... "rare" means nobody wanted them when they were new, either!" True, but sometimes things are not popular when new later become very sought after. That's because hindsight can be 20/20, or because the world changes. An option seen as frivolous in 1955 or 1964 might later be...

Rarity (and desirability) of a slant six/ factory 4 speed?

By limited potential, I mean you'll never get a decent exhaust header on it unless you chop the car up.

Rarity (and desirability) of a slant six/ factory 4 speed?

The use of the term 'standard' is somewhat false when used on a 4 speed but regardless, everyone knows what it means.....a non-automatic trans. The 3 speed on the tree is still plenty cool, even though it was common. Perhaps the king of all oddballs? The Citroen 5-on-the-tree.

Rarity (and desirability) of a slant six/ factory 4 speed?

I owned very clean 65 273-4speed cuda. It was a sweet car but by no means gonna wrinkle any pavement. And limited hot rodding potential. The early A body is better with a Slant.

Rarity (and desirability) of a slant six/ factory 4 speed?

It's plenty cool. The average buyer might prefer a 273 because a 273 is bigger than a 225 and bigger is better.....yawn. But the unusual-ness of the 225/4 speed is something you can't touch with a 273.
