    408 cooling issues

I have the HHR fan on a summit 26x19 universal 2 row aluminum radiator and a gutted t stat, the fan pulls a lot of air. The problem I had was on the highway my temps would creep up and with no hood scoop under hood temps went up and the fuel would boil in the carb. I did cover my steel lines...

    Cooling help?

Yep, most the aftermarket pulleys are all under driven, in fact I have yet to see any sold for mopars that are over driven, it is the exact opposite of what you want when you have cooling issues. If you have an aftermarket aluminum rad with 2 cores, like a lot of them are, the core tubes are...

Slim fan recommended that clears mezier ele water pump

That is very tight, is it just the small center of the wp that you have 2 1/4, how about to the rest of the motor? looks like 3 inches? any way to move the radiator forward to gain some room? I seem to remember someone else cutting the core support to move the radiator ahead.

Slim fan recommended that clears mezier ele water pump

You have 2.5 inches of room? Hard to tell in the pic. I use this one, chevy HHR fan, on my dart, it can be cut down some and the motor has a plastic piece on the back that can be trimmed off. Not sure how much it can be trimmed, is the water pump right in the middle of the radiator? I can...

Cooling issue, but this time it's to cold...

I think the gasket covers up the outside edge of the t stat but check it out when you pull it apart. You could cover part of the radiator, say half or so on a cooler day, take for a test drive watching your temps, if it brings up the temp your t stat is not doing it's job. Just keep close eye on...

Cooling issue, but this time it's to cold...

What brand thermostat? Yes they will open and close on the stove, doesn't mean it's closing all the way, especially with a little pressure behind it. I went through he same thing with my 318 Dakota and 3.3 chrysler mini van, unless you get a GOOD thermostat, they tend to hang open. WIch is...

Cooling issue, but this time it's to cold...

Last. 2 stant a I have put in worked well. Dealership has the good ones, not sure what brand they are though, they are couple bucks more than parts store brands.

Cooling issue, but this time it's to cold...

Or the thermostat is not closing all the way, NAPA t stats are notorious for that. Last 2 I bought there would not warm up on a cold morning until you drove the car. Swapped out for a stant, warms up idling in the driveway. I would try a stant 195 t stat first

What kind of electric fan were you trying?

26" Radiator electric fan mods. What fits?

I am in the process of putting a chevy HHR electric fan and summit 28x19 universal radiator in my dart. That fan was $38 shipped at rock auto on close out.

    Hot at highway speeds

I would try this first, do you have the rubber piece that mounts to the hood and lays across the radiator support when the hood is closed? Also check any where that air can go around the radiator and close it off some how.

    Still Too Hot

Fans and no shroud will not cool that set up, you proved it by driving the air flow drops the temps. Those fans have little to no air flow with out a shroud to direct the air and they most likely will not cool well with a shroud because they do not pull enough air. I use chevy HHR fan/shroud...
