    Intake on milled heads

Gasket matched it, but won't be putting it on until my injection stuff gets here Monday. Doesn't sound like it should be an issue.

    Intake on milled heads

Putting a different manifold on my 408 for the fuel injection. My heads were milled .010" when they were getting ported. Do I need to have the new intake milled to fit, or should things line up fine since it was only .010"?

    Ron's Flying toilet

Looks like I've hit a snag. Scott at killer rons says they do not recommend run the injection on my air gap intake manifold. Not sure why the system cares. May have something to do with the divide plenum, but I can easily cut that out. Bums me out because I had it all ported nice with the heads...

Do you guys run an alternator? Curious to know if the mandrel is long enough to clear my factory pulley. May have to cut the outer groove off.

    Ron's Flying toilet

Sure seems like a lot of work. Did you go from a gas carb or alcohol carb to the injection? Have any trouble with it loading up while on the two-step at the line?

    Ron's Flying toilet

That's what I'm going to try to use the nitrous plate for. Run just gas off my electric pump at low pressure to start and warm the car up. How often did you change the oil? The KR site says milky oil is the sign of the tune up way too rich. I'm used to changing the oil once a season, but a lot...

    Ron's Flying toilet

He said it would work on gas, but it's a lot more sensitive to atmospheric changes than a carb. On the street I don't care much.

Who has some experience with a toilet setup on methanol? ET gains over a carb? I've heard some guys are a few tenths quicker and deadly consistent. I think it'll be worth an extra months play money to pay the difference between an APD carb and the injection. My plan is having KillerRons set me...

    Switch to methanol

I called the Conrad and Bischoff place in Idaho Falls and they told me it was $6 gal. It's for the Idaho Nuclear Labs vehicles, so the public price is higher. Also, is it really 85%? I have doubts. I can attempt it again next week, but I'm not confident. Pump gas is still under $3/gal, so...

    Switch to methanol

Well they're not actually. No one in Montana or Eastern Idaho uses it due to no availability. I looked at getting it shipped, but it works out to $9/gallon which is far beyond what I am willing to pay. The closest distributor is in Washington which is 5 hours one way on top of only being open on...

    Switch to methanol

Yeah e85 was exactly what I was going to do. I was ready to order the carb, and then my fuel supplier fell through. The closest place to get e85 is a 10 hour drive, whereas methanol comes right to me every two weeks indefinitely. I called every fuel supplier in the state and no luck on ethanol...

    Switch to methanol

Yeah it'll be fine. I'd see more of a benefit with higher compression, but it'll work with what I have. The guy who didn't suggest redoing the entire fuel system ran it with compression in the mid 11s. So long as it's more consistent than gas, so I can win more money, I'm content.

    Switch to methanol

I have four breathers, two in each valve cover. Was going to do an evac system into the exhaust, but I'm afraid the mufflers would make it useless. Think that's enough? Holley has the 140 gph black pump listed as compatible with alcohol fuels. The regulator however is not.

    Switch to methanol

Think I've posted about this before, but posting again. I'm sick of the inconsistency I experience with pump gas in my bracket car, so I want to dive into the world of methanol. I've asked lots of questions of the local guys who run it, and get a wide variety of answers. I feel like I can swap...

Video: 408 Duster Accelerate with 02 Sensors (pre-tunning)

A wideband was the best thing I've done next to the 408 upgrade. Where are your sensors? I like the dual readout, mine is just a single after the right collector before my X-pipe. Looks like going up a couple jet sizes would be beneficial.

    Convert to methanol

I know, it makes me angry because e85 was going to happen this season if I could get fuel. The closest station is 200 miles away, and the price is $5.xx/gal. Makes sense I live surrounded by farm land, and there are no ethanol refineries anywhere close.

    Convert to methanol

I can't get ethanol locally, and a barrel would cost $8+/gallon. I'm running 11:1 right now or close to it. I'll be rebuilding the engine this winter, so I can probably up the compression if needed. I really want to keep the filler neck for easy access. Otherwise I'd have to build hinges for my...

    Convert to methanol

For the next race season I want to run methanol. Ethanol was what I really was pushing for, but there is zero availability for a reasonable price in my area. I'm already running 1/2" lines and a compatible pump. My carb of choice would be the pro systems engine friendly setup. The big issue is I...

    Plug reading

Ran it out to 5500 and shut it off to pull plugs. 1,2,3 and 4 look like this. Plugs 6 and 8 look dark brown I can't pull 5 and 7 because the header tube runs too close to use a ratchet, and naturally the tube is hot. Have 82/92 jets in, should I go up one size in the primary and down in the...

    Cold air intake?

I have that 5" cowl and a 14x6 AEM filter on the carb. If you think that's drawing enough air to suffice then I can leave it alone. This is why wanted to ask if there has been experiences with running intake tubes to outside air sources to see of it's worth time and money. I run an electric pump...

    Cold air intake?

I should've been more specific. I want to fab an intake with 4" exhaust tubing and mandrel bends with rubber couplers that will go from the carb through the inner fender under the battery mounting spot (only open spot) to the front bumper area. I can then wrap it with insulation to keep it cool...

    Cold air intake?

I've mulled over the idea of fabbing an air intake that I'd run through the factory battery location and draw air from the front bumper area. I've seen some guys run the intakes with dryer-like hose. Has anyone had personal experience with the performance benefits to such a thing? When it's hot...

Going to grab a few drums and get some fuel in Idaho this weekend. I thought maybe I should buy a whole new carb and keep my gas one on the shelf ready to go just in case there's problems. Any recommendations? I know Quick Fuel has some good ones, but I see Holley has some that look pretty trick...

Seems that I cannot find ethanol for less than $500 a barrel, and there's not places within hours of me that pump it (not that I'd trust pump e85 anyway). Looks like I'm on hold for now until I can find a fuel source.

Hopefully I get word back on what a barrel of fuel will cost me soon and I'll make the switch. Our tracks already got their orders for the season and they get enough barrels they don't have to pay shipping whereas I would have to. I'd like to get fuel in my possession before I buy the kit.

I'm not worried about the fuel system up to the carb. I assume the replacement metering blocks you can buy for a DIY conversion work fine, as I don't really want to buy another carb if my bigs one will work. The conversion is on the to-do list this summer as long as I can get access to ethanol...
