OK I finally got my u joints installed and the DS fit perfect . The Durango slip yoke will not work with a 727 tranny . If your going to try the Durango DS get a 7290 slip yoke and save yourself some money not buying a conversion joint .

I think the cross shaft was about 9 1/2 " , I'll check tonight .

I have 1350 yoke and I have a conversion joint coming from Dr Diff . Dr Diff was the only place to have a 7290/1350 joint that I could find .

I get what your saying but I bought a new 1350 yoke a long time ago so thats what I'm using . I just looked online and I'm not sure if the Durango tranny won't work with 727 tranny . Still checking

The Durango slip yoke is not compatible with the 727 tranny

The slip yoke on the Durango DS will not work with the 727 , I believe it's a 30 spline .

I got mine in and it seems to work fine but yes there is a lot of shaft length going through the bushing . I never thought about cutting the length to make installation easier . Seems like with some mods the 904 can be made to work and if you're like me " penny pinching " its worth the effort ...

On the transmission side I trimmed some of the bracket for clearance . The actual shift assembly measured roughly 9" from the mounting plate to the shaft end . Working over headers was a challenge and the shift assembly needed some persuasion getting lined up but once in place it worked fine ...

Ok I got shift linkage installed tonight , I'm going to post some pics and try and explain my procedure . The pic posted here are the parts I used except for the shift lever , these parts came from my 904/6 and are identical to the parts I bought that were suppose to be from a 727/340 .

I just bought what is suppose to be 727/340 linkage but its the same as my 904/6 linkage . I'm going to try and install it this weekend and I'll let everyone know . They way things have gone for me on this car , I probably don't have the right parts yet .
