Discrepancy between production numbers and VIN for 65 Barracuda

The last 6 digits of the VIN is the sequence number. Since the sequence number is all cars from that plant for the model year, then that explains it all. Does anyone know what total production was from the Los Angeles plant for the 65 model year? I,d like to see where this car Falls in...

Discrepancy between production numbers and VIN for 65 Barracuda

This is buried in one of my other threads, but since I need an answer right away, I decided to start a new thread. I'm looking to pick up a 65 Barracuda on Wednesday and an issue came up that has me a little concerned. I've been told that the production number for 65 Barracudas is 64,596. The...

The current owner says he didn't replace the motor, and he said the previous owners son said it was the original motor. I know that people can say whatever they want, but is there a possibility that if this was a late production vehicle that they may have put a 66 motor in it? The sequence...

Were there any type of hood scoops for the 1965 Barracudas

I dont think I've ever seen any type of factory hood scoop(s) on the 1964-1965 Barracudas, so I was just wondering if any type of factory scoops or different hoods were available for those years.

I would like on opinion on the floors though. The guy did an excellent job on them, so I'm wondering if I should just put carpeting in and forget about them, or replace them with metal? It's not a high dollar car and will mostly be a driver.

thanks for all the info everyone. I'm thinking that may be the original owner replaced the motor with a 66 since:he drove it from 65 to 78. The line lock makes me think that he took it to the local strip or something like that. The car is several hours away so I wont be back to check...

    Can't get it started

Occam's Razor states "The simplest explanation is usually the most correct". Compression just doesnt go away by itself, so if it doesnt start with starting fluid, then it's likely an electrical issue. You mentioned that it was running before you worked on the dash, so I'd start there.

Okay, I went to look at the car. First of all, I dont think it;s a Formula S. The owner is basing that information on a code on the title that says 2S, and he interpreted that to mean that it was a Formula S. It probably stands for 2-door, or something like that. History of the car, is that it...

How about numbers? Are there any stampings on the body that should match the VIN or fender tag? How can you tell if it's a rebody? Did they stamp the radiator support back then? Also, did the tach only come with the Formula S?

When gas jumped drastically, gas stations ran dry, and rationing was put into effect, people did everything they could to get better mileage. I had a Cuda at the time, and replaced the 4bbl with a 2 bbl for that exact reason. Does anyone know the difference in leaf spring count that was...

Long story, but I actually met the owner and he showed me a couple of pictures he had on his phone. But he actually lives a couple hours away from me. I do remember that the motor had black valve covers and a funny looking silver air cleaner. Also has 2 rectangular exhaust tips that either come...

Hi everyone. I'm going to look at a 65 Barracuda in a few days, and I was hoping that a few early A-body experts can help me out. The car is supposed to be pretty original with 38k miles. I saw some pictures of the car and engine, and it looks pretty good. They used it last year to go to car...

    Help!!!!

At this point, hard starting and running rough still sounds like a timing issue. Just because you changed over all of the electrical parts doesnt mean its not an electrical issue, either. Oh, and next time you have a problem, just dont go off and start replacing things. There are a lot of...
