    Thanks slantsixdan!

Dan is always a stand-up dude

    Runs a bit lean...

Don't forget to adjust your timing after you get the carb dialed in. And then re-dial in your carb. And then re-dial in your timing.

    Runs a bit lean...

If it has been allowed to sit for a season, it's highly likely that the fuel evaporated from the carb and gummed up some small passages

What's the best way to find a dead cylinder?

Fire it up cold, immediately coat the exhaust manifold in windex up where each leg joins the cylinder head, observe. You can respray it if it's slow to warm up. Any cylinder that is slow to heat up will be obvious (still wet), and the thermal shock will not be an issue on a cold manifold.

    Whaddya think about these plugs?

Ahem.... The purpose of the dual plane on a V8 is to provide runners of varying length to various cylinders. Sometimes this is done to alter air/fuel to cylinders that typically over or under carburate, other times this is done to spread the torque curve of the motor out. Or both. If one looks...

    Whaddya think about these plugs?

    You asked...I think this counts
  7. jos51700

    Whaddya think about these plugs?

Depends on single plane vs. dual plane, for sure.

    Whaddya think about these plugs?

I have never once understood why the 2bbl carbs on those motors weren't installed 90 degrees from the way it was. That's never seemed right to me.

    Building a slant for torque

I had to buy a whole car to get a Slant 6. Twenty years ago I gave mine away. It doesn't matter how many they made, it matters how many are left and in that regard....no so many.

    Building a slant for torque

If you're not supercharging, you're leaving torque on the table. Nitrous? Are you just going to leave it on drip or what?

    Slant factory performance

Screw all that work. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST ebay turbo, blow through carb, win races get chicks.

If Dan has an issue, I doubt he came to the conclusion lightly.

    Mopar performance head

If the compression heights are all identical, the larger bores will have higher compression. But that motor should have a broader (slightly) torque curve

    Mopar performance head

I can't believe that somebody actually ponied up for that in the first place.

    Mopar performance head

Is that a TWELVE pack of MP pushrods?

    Mopar performance head

Son of a *****, I learned something today. I never knew that was a thing. OP, if you want to make some money, make some templates for the ports on that head and sell 'em.

    Milk of Magnesia?

Jeez now I know who's cooking their chicken in cough syrup. Just use the right crap for the job. I ain't got time for waiting till that **** dries overnight. How the hell hard do people have to work to solve a non-problem? Y'know, around 2001, maybe 2002-ish, I thought people had kinda wised...

    225 oil pan modifications

I think he's referring to the old days. I didn't read this thread really close, so that may be redundant reply. It all depends on what you're doing with it. Dead stock, they live forever. Add a 1k nitrous shot, and things will need to be changed to keep up! For me, if I'm that worried about...

    Blown Slant Six Dyno Test

Given that they used cast pistons on a boosted build, maybe the intent was a bolt on supercharger in a typical street slant?

Interesting means of cleaning a carb

I did something similar once, but I was using spray carb cleaner and it came out of some unseen passage and touched me in my Special Place. I ran to the shop can; occupied. I ran to use the showroom bathroom and as I opened the door to the showroom, there was the most beautiful brunette woman...

Interesting means of cleaning a carb

Try oven cleaner. Start scrubbing immediately with a brass brush and be ready to wash it at any time. Too long and it's going dark. That's a form of zinc oxide you're battling. Being strong just depends on how much you dilute it..... The reason they're going dark isn't the aluminum, it's the...

    I grenaded my slant 6

Could be oil supply, could be harmonics, could be shaft torsion, could be block flex....what else...?
  23. jos51700

    I grenaded my slant 6

First, that sucks. I set a rod knocking in a slant 5, but never windowed one. Sucks double on a fresh build too!! Second, pistons made in.....? The time mine popped, a guy said there was a oil passage in the crank that was undersized on some slants that caused the rods on that journal to go...

    What about zinc?

Mobil 1 lists the zddp content (which is what you're really after) for every flavor that they make. Review it, and see if you can find published info for your preferred oil choice. It's supposed to be more critical in a new cam application, but I had tons in my 360 and it still wiped 2 lobes...

2bbl Intake... To Make or To Find?

I remember seeing a half dozen super 6 cars in the KC pick n pull in the late 90's. Of course, at the time there were dozens of Darts and the occasional gen ii Charger or Challenger. Rallye wheels aren't hard to find, and about 1 out of fifty was a stick shift car. I was even aware of the...

Anyone install three speed with overdrive behind a slant six

Chrysler mated the 3+1 to the slant six, and so should you. Not a bad combo in the least.

    170 vs 225 differences

If I'm not mistaken, aren't the peanut plug head without the spark plug tubes also a later head design? I don't do a lot of slant six stuff
