    Lolz!

    No crank

He sure has. I was reading his stuff on other people's posts as I was trying to figure this out.

    No crank

Awesome thank you for the additional info. I need to retest them just so I know what I’m doing. I was confused by the results too. Did not make sense.

    No crank

Well, ended up being the neutral safety switch had come off the tranny. Go figure. Before that, I ran my meter on it to see what was going. Where the yellow wire was (in the diagram says brown), labeled I on the relay, it said -1. Cranked it then -2V? I didn’t think that made sense. Then the...

    No crank

Awesome. Re read your stuff. Setting it to 12v DC. I have a chiltons or Haynes manual I gotta pull out and will see what I got. Thank you!

    No crank

Ok I’m really sorry for my ignorance. I really don’t mess with electrical stuff hardly ever. So do I use the ohm setting and then put the negative probe as a ground to the negative terminal or to a bare piece of metal, then the positive probe to what I’m checking? I know. I know. I don’t know...

    No crank

Yes, sorry. Relay! I moved through into neutral and same issue. Automatic.

    No crank

Go to crank my car and nothing. Battery charged. No click, nothing. Turn on lights and crank, no cranking, no clicking, lights stay the same. Used a screwdriver to jump it at solenoid and it starts. So I figure solenoid. Buy one. Put it on. Same result. I’m not super knowledgeable on this type...

    Squareback vs round back alternator?

good to know! I pulled the insulator off when I yanked it out, unsure if the new one would have one or not. I’ll check out the bearing when I pick up the new one this week. Thank you.

    Squareback vs round back alternator?

Turns out I have a dual field square back with triangular plug voltage regulator. I’ve ran it for 8k miles with no issues (except a bearing) and I’ll get one to replace it like it. Thanks guys! I learned a lot about different types of alternators from you guys. Who knew there were so many...

    Squareback vs round back alternator?

I would like to keep the OEM look. I’ll yank it off when I get home Sunday to see what I have. I have a Mopar chrome box and I think an original black regulator. I’ll update. Thanks for the info guys!

    Squareback vs round back alternator?

I rebuilt my 318 like 15 years ago and have put on 8k miles in that time. I replaced the alternator at the same time and recently the bearing went out on me. Seeing how alternators are relatively cheap I was just going to replace it. But when I started reading it looks like there is much against...

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

    Nice! Post some pics!

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

Sounds like a good call then. I would have never known that. I think I'm going to put the 4 pin under my hollowed out orange box and then hardwire behind the ballast resister so it looks stock but isn't.

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

Wow, that's pretty crazy! I still haven't done this mod but plan to this winter but with 4 pin. I didn't even consider the 8 pin lol.

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

Ok I will do the heatsink then guys. Thanks for all the input. It'll be a while before I post pics of it (currently rebuilding steering box and repainting intake and exhaust manifolds) but I will get to it.

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

LOL yep, still in the closet about it. Don't know if I can come out about it yet haha

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

Ha good point! The chrome box was bought at Summit a couple months ago and has been used. Not sure Rev N Nator would return a functioning piece. But yeah I could find those guys. I'm borderline one of those guys, hence the desire to do HEI hidden LOL

    Awesome, thanks for the clarification!

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

Awesome guys thanks for the input. This is all just a fun hot rod trial for me. Trailbeast, did you end up sticking with this HEI or did you end up going the route of doing the GM style HEI where everything is in the dizzy? If I recall you sell something like that. Any discernible difference in...

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

Oh gotcha. Yeah I looked at your route as well. Pretty slick either way. If I didn't already have a box and the holes drilled in the fender I'd be going your route I think. That looks good.

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

Also @moparmat2000 how have you liked running the HEI all this time?
  23. jrc4y4

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

Ok so I can just run a ground wire from that metal insert on the bolt hole of the HEI module and run that to the heatsink portion of the orange box as a ground? How did you attach the HEI module so it wasn't just floating? Good idea on pulling out the old resistor wire, thank you! What gauge...

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

@TrailBeast am I on the right track with my previous post? Also, I am running the typical Champion plugs. Should I switch over to Bosch or NGK or just gap the Champions differently?

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

The second pic is not the one I did. I just used that pic for the wire connection points. Whoever did that one sucks at soldering.:D Hey Trailbeast this is what I have so far. All 4 prongs on the GM HEI module have a letter (might have to blow up the pic to see). I want to make sure I wire this...

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

Ok, thanks for all the info. Thanks for the wiring showing Trailbeast. I plan to run a 4 pin just because I can do it for free. Are you guys running vacuum advance? I capped mine off years ago and it's always ran well without it. Good idea on the Mopar coil. I'm ordering a chrome box today to...

    HEI in Mopar ECU casing

Ok. I'll have to look closely how the guys in here ran the four pins on the gm module to the pins on the orange box. How long you had it set up? Any issues? Run better?

HEI or Rev-N-Nator and several HEI questions

Ok good to know. I'm gonna try and run an oe gm just to test it out.

HEI or Rev-N-Nator and several HEI questions

Ok good info. My brother in law, a gm guy is hooking me up with some OE hei stuff. I'll see if I can get it to work inside of my orange box which I've already hallowed out and then run a wire inside the back of the ballast. I assume I'll have to retime my car. I don't run vacuum advance with...

HEI or Rev-N-Nator and several HEI questions

Great read! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Based on that I can use my coil but it's not as recommended as the e coil.
