Ok then, what size are you trying to go for... There are charts to tell what size hole to drill to tap for each specific thread size. You need to look up what size thread that you are going to use and then use the chart...

Why not use a heli-coil and get it back down to the original size???

It's hard to earn the money to do a good build when you are in high school. You may be better off driving it like it is until you can save up the money to do a good rebuild on a small block.

Also, if you have a favorite body shop locally, stop and ask them if they have any recommendations. The shop that is painting my Challenger convertible has mentioned that they have a guy that they can call and he will come pick up the seats and top and replace them through the body shop. But...

There's a place here called M&M Glass, they do interior work, windshields, custom interiors, and convertible tops. They are good and have been around a while, just a bit farther than 100 miles from St. Louis. They did a great job installing the seat covers for my son's Challenger.

My guys at the body shop working on my Challenger convert showed me that there are zippers that you should bring down before lowering the top. This makes it so the top is not pulled so tight when we put it down. By leaving them zipped, it puts more pressure on the top and pulls it real tight...
